A prestigious and always eventful night, the Q Awards comes to London's Grosvenor House Hotel on October 30th and the voting has begun. Brigade deserve a gong and we need your votes. You can nominate the band in any of the following categories but we think Best New Act should be the one they walk away with on the night.

Brigade EP Launch Party

Ok folks, we mentioned a surprise for you all...how would you like to hear the new Brigade EP earlier than the release date?

Mmm thought so! Well next Friday (9th September) we'll be having a release party for you to come have a listen & hopefully consider buying the new EP when it comes out on the 12th September.

There will be games, flyers, badges, stickers etc courtesy of Mighty Atom so all we need is for you to bring yourselves.

Details as to where in London it will be held to be announced, if people want to donate to hiring the venue let us know via pm. Timing likely to be early evening till late but will be confirmed when we have a venue. Also please list if you want to attend so we get an idea for figures, thanks!

Charlie Simpson's brother destroys preconceptions in London

As Baby crowds go, tonight's is positively foetal. Mind you, few of the band members here tonight could buy a pack of Marlboros without being ID'd. Halifax quintet The Lucida Console look like they've skipped Chemistry class to be with us, and indeed one or two of their own formulas need refinement. They have some great ideas, but their angular geek rock flits between time signatures like a DJ with a short attention span.

Derry's the Mascara Story have no such song writing issues, and exhibit bags of raw talent; gorgeous vocal harmonies squeeze in-between jaw-dropping musical moments in a Taking Back Sunday – meets – Jetplane Landing style.

Brigade, on the other hand, already look like the finished article. Preconceptions based on frontman Will Simpson's younger siblings exploits are blown away by their rock-tight take on the post-hardcore sound. They recall everyone from Far (quite blatantly at times) to… Trial of Dead, but they do it with confidence, maturity, and some incredible drumming. They have an uphill battle against lazy assumptions to fight, but Brigade have all the firepower they need to emerge victorious.

'Made To Wreck' EP is released on Mighty Atom Records on Sept 12 2005.

Sometimes big is actually better... and when you hear the music Brigade create you'll understand why. Brigade writes huge, beautiful songs. They create muscular, passionate tunes that blow up into enormous soundscape epics, while always retaining the all-important ingredient the song. Powerful, sometimes earth shattering, sometimes timid, Brigade's sound is unique and compelling.

It's not emo, it's not indie, it's not pop Brigade cannot be limited to genre pigeonholes their tunes live outside such limitations as anyone who has heard them will testify.

Indeed their debut EP 'Made To Wreck' - takes you on a journey of honest, bare emotion and shuddering hard driving rock rhythms. Produced by Joe Gibb (Funeral For A Friend, Johnny Truant, Million Dead) and Gethin Woolcock, it features four blistering tracks of alt-rock.

Will Simpson's vocals flit between being angelic and harmonious one minute to filling the stadiums with his enormous powerful roar the next. Lyrically the themes are mostly about mistakes and regrets. The hard rocking 'Meet Me at My Funeral', for instance, was inspired after Simpson read the book 'Bodies' by Jed Mecurio that deals heavily in themes of redemption and cynicism.

Residing in London via Bristol, Suffolk and Japan Brigade came together in 03 aiming to create music that would combine hard-hitting rock with sensitivity. Their 'Safe Hands' demo gained the quartet significant interest in rock circles and in support, the quartet have been constantly touring the UK and building up a live following just like all bands with longevity have done before them.

As well as their own headline tours, Brigade have also toured with Aereogramme, Biffy Clyro and hot emo rockers Fightstar.

And while Will's brother is Fightstar's Charlie Simpson Brigade are not living in the shadows of anyone or relying on publicity stunts of name checking at every opportunity. There is after all, no need to hype good music it speaks volumes itself.

And Brigade turn it up to 11 on the dial.

Hey Record Buyers!

Here's the news you've been waiting for...

The reason the tour diary is a bit empty in June & July is because we'll be
holed up in the Valleys recording our debut album for Mighty Atom records. WOW!

At the moment the Brigade website (www.brigadeworld.com) has exceeded its bandwidth & so it's not working for the time being.....the boys have been in Scotland & as far as I know they are aware the site isn't working but it should be being fixed asap, I think early May is estimated time for fixing.....

Helloooo, just found this comm. Was waiting for somebody to start one hehe.

I'm Amy, 15 known as 'not_your_stAr' on the Brigade boards. I absolutely LOVE Brigade and try to get to as many gigs as I can. Seeing them live is one of my favourite things to do, they are so awesome live. I'd say MMAMF is my favourite track, closely followed by 21. Although Go Slow is fantastic live, the ending is just - WOAH.
