Mailing List News

Hey boys & girls

In case you don't know already, our debut album is called 'LIGHTS' and it's out
in shops nationwide today!

Here's some of what's been said about it:

...A towering beast of a rock band that know that the importance of writing
memorable songs exceeds that of making sure the amps are turned up. The best of
Biffy Clyro, Funeral For A Friend and Smashing Pumpkins collide beautifully in
'Adjust' and the especially brilliant 'Magneto' to create something far too
dynamic to willfully ignore. So don't.' 8/10 NME

...'Lights' is simply a muscular, dynamic and genre-defying modern rock record,
bristling with its own ideas and a strong sense of self... The overall
impression is that of a band with the confidence and ability to strike out in
pretty much any direction they choose, and one which won't be in anyone's shadow
for long.' 4/5 Kerrang!

...This is guitar music at its most pure and vital; searing riffs, soaring
melodies and a fantastic pop sensibility all help to make this debut album
instantly noteworthy. If we had more bands like Brigade to reinforce the
strength of our homegrown music scene, who knows what heights it could reach.'
8/10 Rock Sound

Keep checking the website at http://www.brigadeworld.com for updates and stuff,
and don't forget our upcoming Festival apperances:

Sat 17th June - Bedford BED-ROCK FESTIVAL

Sun 18th June - MIDDLESBROUGH MUSIC LIVE

Sun 9th July - COLLISION COURSE FESTIVAL Bridgend Recreation Centre

Sat 14th Oct - END OF DAYS FESTIVAL Pontin's @ Hemsby, nr Great Yarmouth

Enjoy the album everyone, and we'll see y'all later!

BRIGADE

Also, new forum & website, sign up people :) www.brigadeworld.com & http://www.ukrockonline.net//phpBB-2.0.20/phpBB2/index.php

Kerrang 24/08/05

BRIGADE
Plus: The Mascara Story, The Lucida Console
The Barfly, London
12.08.05
KKKK

Charlie Simpson's brother destroys preconceptions in London

As Baby crowds go, tonight's is positively foetal. Mind you, few of the band members here tonight could buy a pack of Marlboros without being ID'd. Halifax quintet The Lucida Console look like they've skipped Chemistry class to be with us, and indeed one or two of their own formulas need refinement. They have some great ideas, but their angular geek rock flits between time signatures like a DJ with a short attention span.

Derry's the Mascara Story have no such song writing issues, and exhibit bags of raw talent; gorgeous vocal harmonies squeeze in-between jaw-dropping musical moments in a Taking Back Sunday – meets – Jetplane Landing style.

Brigade, on the other hand, already look like the finished article. Preconceptions based on frontman Will Simpson's younger siblings exploits are blown away by their rock-tight take on the post-hardcore sound. They recall everyone from Far (quite blatantly at times) to… Trial of Dead, but they do it with confidence, maturity, and some incredible drumming. They have an uphill battle against lazy assumptions to fight, but Brigade have all the firepower they need to emerge victorious.

WILL SIMPSON vocals / guitar
JAMES PLANT guitars / vocals
NATHANIEL FINBOW drums
NAOTO HORI bass / vocals

• Biography
'Made To Wreck' EP is released on Mighty Atom Records on Sept 12 2005.

Sometimes big is actually better... and when you hear the music Brigade create you'll understand why. Brigade writes huge, beautiful songs. They create muscular, passionate tunes that blow up into enormous soundscape epics, while always retaining the all-important ingredient the song. Powerful, sometimes earth shattering, sometimes timid, Brigade's sound is unique and compelling.

It's not emo, it's not indie, it's not pop Brigade cannot be limited to genre pigeonholes their tunes live outside such limitations as anyone who has heard them will testify.

Indeed their debut EP 'Made To Wreck' - takes you on a journey of honest, bare emotion and shuddering hard driving rock rhythms. Produced by Joe Gibb (Funeral For A Friend, Johnny Truant, Million Dead) and Gethin Woolcock, it features four blistering tracks of alt-rock.

Will Simpson's vocals flit between being angelic and harmonious one minute to filling the stadiums with his enormous powerful roar the next. Lyrically the themes are mostly about mistakes and regrets. The hard rocking 'Meet Me at My Funeral', for instance, was inspired after Simpson read the book 'Bodies' by Jed Mecurio that deals heavily in themes of redemption and cynicism.

Residing in London via Bristol, Suffolk and Japan Brigade came together in 03 aiming to create music that would combine hard-hitting rock with sensitivity. Their 'Safe Hands' demo gained the quartet significant interest in rock circles and in support, the quartet have been constantly touring the UK and building up a live following just like all bands with longevity have done before them.

As well as their own headline tours, Brigade have also toured with Aereogramme, Biffy Clyro and hot emo rockers Fightstar.

And while Will's brother is Fightstar's Charlie Simpson Brigade are not living in the shadows of anyone or relying on publicity stunts of name checking at every opportunity. There is after all, no need to hype good music it speaks volumes itself.

And Brigade turn it up to 11 on the dial.

Ignore at your peril.

1. Made To Wreck
2. Safe Hands
3.
Hey Record Buyers!

Here's the news you've been waiting for...

The reason the tour diary is a bit empty in June & July is because we'll be
holed up in the Valleys recording our debut album for Mighty Atom records. WOW!

In the meantime, come dancing at the Barfly headline gig this Saturday with The
Ordinance sexpot Jesse Quin treating us to a DJ set, and keep checking the live
page of www.brigadeworld.com for upcoming gigs.

Thanks for you support, you beauties

Love

brigade x

HOW fucking amazing?!

Hi...

Hi,

My name is Krystle and I just recently joined. Just thought I'd say hello to everyone and hopefully I'll see some of you on the 9th. :)

If you'd like to know more about me my bio on my user-info page explains all about my boring existence. :D

Also, I'm finding it kind of difficult to read everything on here because of the background and I thought I might try and make a different one? If nobody minds? Of course you don't have to use it... I'll just make one and post it and if it isn't used here people can use it as a wallpaper or something! I know I'm a cheeky beggar...

Helloooo, just found this comm. Was waiting for somebody to start one hehe.

I'm Amy, 15 known as 'not_your_stAr' on the Brigade boards. I absolutely LOVE Brigade and try to get to as many gigs as I can. Seeing them live is one of my favourite things to do, they are so awesome live. I'd say MMAMF is my favourite track, closely followed by 21. Although Go Slow is fantastic live, the ending is just - WOAH.

Anyhoo, that's my part done.

Bye xx
