Andalucia, Spain
I'm going to Vejer de la Frontera in Andalucia for a Spanish course this summer, and after the course is finished I want to travel around in Andalucia for a week (or a bit longer). I want to go to Cadiz and Sevilla, but other than these cities I dont know. Do anyone have any recommodations on what to see and do in Andalucia. I'm interested in different things: beach, cities/towns, middle-of-nowhere villages, curiosities etc, and I am very interested in photography if you know of any particularly scenic places!

Also, any info on weather (first week of September, is it still really hot then), how easy it is to get around by bus/train, hostel recommodations etc. would be greatly appreciated. Is booking a room before I go necessay? How early?

Thanks for your help,
Benedicte

Ps. If you're going to be in the area at the same time, feel free to contact me:)

If you're at all into horses, the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art is in a little town called Jerez de la Fontera, and they do some seriously spectacular stuff with their horses. Jerez is near Cadiz, and it's supposed to be quite pretty as well as housing the squillion-dollar ponies.

Sevilla is lovely and there's lots of things to see and do there, if you like Roman ruins, you could take the local bus from Plaza de Armas to Santiponce and Italica. Explore Seville is a detailed website and there's even a section on side trips you can take.

Granada, Cordoba and Ronda are other options too as well as Cadiz, but it'll be a little rushed if you try to see all these places and Cadiz in a week.

I'd imagine September will still be very hot if March to July is anything to go by! I found getting around by public transport no problem, but this was back in 2005 so things may have changed.

A few pics from my Spain trip

I enjoyed each place I visited, though if I had to drop one place from the list, it would be Malaga. I recommend bus travel in Andalucia... it's pretty quick if you aren't going too far, and it's inexpensive. I managed to find timetables and names of bus companies for all of my routes online before I went, so I just bought bus tickets when I arrived at each city. The only times I got worried were in Ronda where the ticket window was open at three intervals each day (conveniently not timed with when we arrive) and one other place when we waited until we left to buy tickets and it was a Friday afternoon and there were huge crowds. I always got on the bus I wanted, but I was there in November and things weren't that busy.

You'll love Ronda and the bus ride to Ronda. Definitely stop there if you can.
