Great Advances in Feminism http://www.openmediaboston.org/node/788The Cambridge AboutWomen Project (which seems to lack a web presence) has taken a bold stand against male teenagers slouching. I hope they'll support me in my projects, "No Fat People", "No Bags Larger Than Fifteen Pounds" and "Muzzling Shrieking Coeds". Seriously, is it so hard to walk up somebody and say "excuse me" or just start to sit down? EDIT: Also, has anybody else noticed that "Open Media Boston", with what seems to be a mission of free speech and sticking it to the man, moderates membership? I guess "open" is only for people they agree with. | | Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 | 4:15 pm [thetathx1138]

Kill A Kitten I hate to see animals put to sleep, so I'll only adopt from a shelter that stands to kill them. No sense in adopting from a no-kill shelter since the kitten's life isn't in jeopardy there. If only more people would see things this way. In a perfect world, no one would ever adopt from a no-kill shelter. With nobody to take kittens off their hands, no-kill shelters would suffer unbearable financial strain, go broke, and disappear. Soon every shelter in existence would have a kitten-killing policy. A perfect utopian outcome for someone who hates to see animals put to sleep. | 1:52 am [mikexpop]

So is it just me or does anyone else think this post amounts to "OMFG, all, like, these greasy, like, Bostonians. Like, they need to, like, wash their faces and all, like." | | Monday, June 15th, 2009 | 6:28 pm [lbmango]

The job site less traveled http://community.livejournal.com/b0st0n/6645146.htmlok, 1) if no one goes to it, why would there be any jobs? But MUCH more importantly: 2) Where on earth do they get the statistic that only 1.2% of the area knows about the site? do they have MIND READING RAYS? Did they poll? (In which case, after the poll, everyone they polled would know...) I mean, granted, everyone knows that 73% of statistics are made up, but still... | | Saturday, June 6th, 2009 | 12:01 am [mikexpop]

Stay classy, Boston media
You know, I felt pretty bad about how Boston was losing all of its newspapers, until the CL Killer hit the press, and now we've got stories of a reporter trying to use Missed Connections to talk to his fiancee or their friends, the Herald gleefully feeding their comment trolls a link to his Weddingtracker profile so they could shit all over said fiancee (seriously, it's pretty terrible, you'd think she was in on it), and apparently every single reporter in the area harrassing anybody who was friends with the guy on Facebook for one-line quotes. Gee, you think maybe this and the death of print are related? Nah. | | Friday, April 17th, 2009 | 6:42 pm [sonofabish]

Not quite necrophilia, but close
The biggest shame if the Globe goes belly-up is that it will leave only the Herald as a Boston major daily. Why is this a bad thing? Well, take, for instance, this article in the Herald by Joe Dwinell about another possible attack on a call girl- this one down in RI. Go to the last paragraph on page 1 where he describes Julissa Brisman, the woman shot and killed at the Marriott, as "a 26-year-old stunner." Jesus, Joe, why don't you just come right out and tell us you wished you had, if you'll pardon the expression, banged her too, while you're at it. Ladies and gentlemen, the Boston Herald in all its glory. | | Thursday, April 16th, 2009 | 5:20 pm [thetathx1138]
