can anyone confirm that the boys life drummer is playing with old canes?
if so, i am pretty thrilled - i have been listening to the cast and boys life since i was about 14, and it sounds like a pretty sweet combination to me.

... a fledgling here. Just saying hi and wondering if anyone has the full lyrics for "Convict" (I noticed that an entire verse is missing from the online transcriptions I've found). And if anyone has the lyrics for "Woodland Hunter (Part 2)"? Thanks in advance. :)

| New LLO Pressing out |
[13 May 2007|12:40pm] |
Yeah, so I caught this in a myspace bulletin and am reprinting it. I don't remember Chris or Aaron saying anything about Deep Elm being involved with this. I buzzed Chuck and John over at Deep Elm to ask if they'll be putting out the Mare Vitalis and Two Conversation pressings too, but knowing them it might take a day or two to get a response. Anyways, here is a repost of the bulletin, and I have to say, the colors are a lot diffent than I was expecting, but I really like them.

| The Sea and The Stars |
[21 Mar 2007|03:37pm] |
Here's a mystery: The Appleseed Cast's official website went through many incarnations and in one of those early incarnations it spanned a geocities site as well as the official domain. On the geocities site is tablature for a few songs from Mare Vitalis and Ring Wars. Additionally there is a song listed under "Lost Songs" named "The Sea and The Stars" listed before "The Spider Wall"
So the question is what the hell song is "the sea and the stars"? I'm not a good enough guitar player to figure out if it is an existing song just by looking at the tab (and i don't have a guitar handy). It is an early song as it uses the open D tuning used throughout Ring Wars...
Is this a song that was renamed and featured on the "Lost Songs" album, or is this another (truly lost) song altogether? Any ideas?
It *may* have been Chris himself who made the tab page as the meta tags in the HTML include <META NAME="Author" CONTENT="Christopher">
http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palladium/7687/tabs.html
http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palladium/7687/tabtheseaandthestars.html
it also shows up on the original fan page here: http://www.lawrencerock.com/theappleseedcast/tabs.html

| New guy post |
[15 Mar 2007|04:59pm] |
Hi folks,
I'm new here so I thought I'd better pop a post in here. I've only just heard Appleseed Cast recently and only own 'Peregrine' but would love to hear the rest of the shtuff. I'm based in Glasgow and it's pretty hard to find their records here unless you get them from the internet so if anyone knows anywhere that sells their older stuff in Glasgow I'd love to hear it.
Ciao the now!

| info from the road |
[14 Mar 2007|04:22am] |
i just got back from the covington, ky show after a long 3 hour drive back and a near miss of 2 deer. got some fun information for you guys.
ifallintonothin mentioned someone talking to the cast about the EP while they are on the road. so here is some of the stuff i got out of Chris about it. he basicly said that it'd be out sometime this summer. I am assuming that the 2 new songs that they played tonight were part of the EP. I think we might be leaning more toward the instrumental leads that you hear on earlier albums with a lot more bite to it. I really don't know how to explain it to you guys, I wasn't albe to take my scope with me to snatch some sound.
also, anyone that knows about the new Old Canes. Chris said he has only got about 1/3 of it recorded so far. he also said that John Anderson (boys life) was doing the drumming for the new album... if im correct. i could be wrong.
Aaron was talking about the new vinyl releases. I didn't quite understand the new pressing of Low Level Owl 3x12" so here is an attempt at clarifying that. Each of the three vinyl discs are a different color. I think he said the colors were going to be something like red/green/and marble white. I also asked if they might possibly release end of ring wars on vinyl. he made me feel like someone had some reservations with that. either way, if you missed the first pressings of the LLO LP the new ones sound like they are going to be really neat.
here was my attempt at figuring out what they were playing tonight. I can't read my chicken scratch so here is what i could decipher.
forever longing the golden sunsets here we are (family in the hallways) innocent vigilant ordinary fishing the sky fight song steps and numbers 2 new songs
these are probably all wrong. ok the ringing in my ears is almost gone. wear ear plugs kids.

| Graveface Records to release Appleseed Cast Vinyls |
[27 Feb 2007|09:01am] |
Read the news here
02.03.07: Hello folks! Much news to report once again. For one, we are releasing most of The Appleseed Cast's back catalogue on coloured vinyl this year. Coming first, Low Level Owl Volumes 1 and 2 on 3xlp. Each lp is a different colour! Then we'll be doing Mare Vitalis on 2xlp. And to close we'll be doing Two Conversations on 2xlp as well. Graveface is linked from the official site, so this looks legit.
If you haven't checked out http://adreamforus.com lately, please do.

Anyone know what songs the 'Cast have been playing on this recent tour? Any new songs besides the instrumental? Seeing them on Friday and I'm as psyched as I always am to see them.

| 3 songs |
[28 Dec 2006|01:20pm] |
What 3 songs would you recommend to someone who has never heard the band before?
Let's assume this person has decent taste in music and isn't too biased (i.e. they only like punk, so you stick to ring wars stuff since it is closest).

| Merry Christmas - New Bootleg Site |
[25 Dec 2006|07:26pm] |
Hey there boys and girls, and merry Christmas and happy holidays to you all.
I've started a new site for sharing bootlegs of Appleseed Cast shows at http://adreamforus.com.
I'm still getting things rolling (using a default theme right now, etc.) but I wanted to open the doors early as a Christmas present to you all. I've already uploaded a show from 2003-11-14 in Cleveland, Ohio and plan to post a new show weekly (or more often if I increase my inventory).
Check back often as I expand the site to include tablature and maybe someday a messageboard for fans of the band. I'll also be posting in the future about ways you can contribute shows to be made available on A Dream for Us.
All mp3s are direct-downloads, no BS involved.
I have bandwidth to burn, love the 'cast, and want to give back to the community. So please visit the site and bookmark it. Hey, subscribe to the RSS if you're hip like that...
Merry Christmas, all.
If the community owner views this as spam, please delete it. But I'm just looking to give back to the community and I have linked back to you.

I spoke with Chris after the show last night (great show). Old Canes is on. Chris is finishing up the material now and is hoping to record in January. He's trying to enlist a cello player and horns... He said he wanted many more instruments on this album.
Anyone else mega-excited about this?
Note: on 03-03-06 Pitchfork (scroll down awhile) reported Chris was already recording this, but he's still just working on it and will do the actual recording in Jan.
