Animal Crossing: City Folk announced for release!
With E3 being such a disappointment to many on Nintendo's part, they DID have one big announcement: Animal Crossing: City Folk is coming to Wiis later this year!

A few of the new features:

* Wifi capabilities will allow people to exchange letters and pictures. (Well, we could do some of this before, but I figure it'll be more expansive.)
* You'll have the ability to actually voicechat with people!
* Catch a bus to a city area and bid on or sell items at the auction!
* Check your friends' statuses with the Happy Room Academy.
* You can put a mask of your Mii on your AC character.

Check out some of the screenshots here.

VERY EXCITED! It appears cliffs and paths ala the GC version will be making a comeback, which makes me happy. Although they're a bit limiting, I love more texture in my landscape. It also appears that maybe each player may have individual houses? I'm not sure. In this video, you see the character getting into bed, which is a tiny room, only room for the bed and the phone. Hrm. :O

Please comment with any additional details you may find! My internet is horrifically slow right now, so I'm having a lot of trouble loading the sites.

Table Turnips.
I checked the memories under turnips, and anywhere else my question might be answered, but found nothing... So, I'm going to assume that it's okay to post another entry about turnips.

I've heard that if you put your white turnips on a table in your house, they won't spoil. My problem is: every time I attempt to put some on a table, they just bounce unto the floor. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

One more thing: Are there any negative effects, which you can't reverse, once you've time traveled? I already know about the neighbors possibly moving and weeds over taking your neighborhood. I'm mainly just wondering if you can you go back to the present date, so I'm not permanently stuck in the future, and what changes might stick around. Does that make sense? >.<

I'm not sure if that last paragraph is going to be okay or not, there's a recent entry about time traveling backwards into time, but not forwards. I've never time traveled before, so I'm a tad confused. Which is why I'm being a lil wary about doing it on my game. I apologize if this last part of the post breaks the rules (and will stop editing my entry now).

Animal Crossing Wii, to be announced at E3 next week.
http://kotaku.com/5023094/animal-crossing-wii-at-e3-already-confirmed

According to the Official Nintendo Magazine (according to wikipedia, this appears to be in the UK?), Animal Crossing Wii is slated to be announced at E3, which is next Tuesday. It will be releasing in Japan sometime this year, and probably have a 2009 release here in the US.

OKAY, WHO IS AS OBSESSIVELY EXCITED AS I AM?! 8D

Do you think we should expand this community to cover the Wii version, or should we keep it strictly to the DS version?

Animals not moving?

I'm not sure if this issue has already been covered before; I tried searching through the journal and failed, and I couldn't find a memories post about it. If there is one, please direct me towards it. Thanks!

LJ cut put into place for length. Long story short, two animals haven't attempted to move from my town for over a year. )

I haven't tried to get a friend over WiFi into the town to try removing the animals by talking to them (does that even work?); we're currently being precautious because we're afraid of one of our animals moving away. Does anyone also know if animals currently in person A's town can move to person B's town without any interaction with the animal on person B's part? I know they may receive animals that moved out from the other's town, but it's been so long since I've WiFi'd and I've forgotten. @_@

Thanks in advance!

edit: Scratch the normal villager part; they've never gotten sick. @_@
edit2: I now have a number for how long Tangy has been in my town; it has been 619 days since she moved from my friend's town back into mine.

Cartoon
I don't know if everyone has seen this, or if this post is allowed - if not feel free to delete.
I came across it while browsing Amazon today and thought it was funny. Mostly the HRA and the catchphrase cartoons. I really hate trying to think of things for my neighbors to say. LOL

Edit: Scroll down to see the comic!

HRA Message
My question isn't about the HRA or the items needed or anything like that (I have the guide at home), and after checking memories I don't see a topic similar.

My HRA score finally went up into the 40,000 range from being in the 30,000 range last week (I finally found the wall I needed to go with one of my sets). But their letter said something about needing to be creative and that my house was too sterile or something like that. Has anyone else gotten that message or know if it means anything? Like maybe where I have the furniture placed? I tried to do some feng shui along with my series at least in my main room, but I may have done it wrong. Either way - I have all of my furniture pushed up to the walls so the middle is an empty space. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Other than that - I got my golden watering can over the weekend (yay) and have been working on getting more pieces of furniture for my 3 rooms. I don't have all the expansions yet. My main room is blue, the upstairs addition is green, and my first - first floor expansion is the lovely theme.

Is this OK? I wanted to share.
Hey everybody! I have maintained a perfect town for two whole days! I'm so excited.

You want to know what I did? I chopped down all my trees and arranged my town from scratch! Pretty sad, huh? I'm slightly OCD.

Anyway I wanted to cheer--I have two Jacob's Ladders growing in my town, one of which I put in my house. And I got to thinking: will a plant you place in your house remain indefinitely or will it eventually die?

I'm super-psyched to achieve my goal of the golden watering can!

Time traveling
I've read that you can fast forward your game 10 years or something to get an obscene number of bells in your bank account but I have a different question..

I went backwards in time because I wanted to buy a couple of axes to chop down trees. And while I was back in time, I planted some trees not thinking anything of it. And then when I returned to the correct day, the trees were all grown and producing fruit. And then I couldn't help myself and did it a couple of more times.

Has anyone else done this? Do you think it will negatively effect the game? I know it's cheating and I swear I'm going to stop (although the instant gratification is hard to resist!).

More questions
Here's the thing; I'm a twit. I know this. I accidentally sold the picture Blaire gave me of her. And then I did it again: I accidentally sold the pictures that Goose and Lily gave me. I'm a mess. I feel stupid for making the mistake.. and then making it twice!

My question: is there a way to get them to give me their pictures again? I don't really understand the neighbors thing.. I mean as soon as you get their pictures, are you supposed to try and hold on to the neighbors? Or is the point to go through as many neighbors as you can while collecting as many pictures as you can?

Also: does anyone have Derwin the duck living in their town? It's my father's name and I think it would be fun if he was living in my town ;-P

n00b Questions!
I have been playing Animal Crossing: Wild World since I received it for Christmas this past December. I hadn't played online until recently and I must say I am now addicted to inviting people to my town!

But I know that it's against the rules of this community to simply request visitors so I am coupling this with some questions I have (I thought it was silly to post here and [info]wildworld_gates--but tell me if I'm wrong!)

My main purpose in asking for visitors is that I am trying to construct the perfect town.. and I am insecure about the way I have mapped out my acres. I followed the directions provided by online guides but I am still wary if I did it right. I would be grateful if someone who has done it before could take a quick look and let me know if I'm proceeding in the right direction.

My second question is about writing letters: this is the first Animal Crossing game I've played and I don't really understand the letters. I know that you have to have something written because I sent out blanks once and that made my neighbors a bit unhappy.. does it matter what they say? I've been filling them with song lyrics that I happen to be listening to when I'm writing them (or whatever happens to be stuck in my head).

Also, a side note: I'm attempting to complete the Modern and Classic furniture sets. I have the Modern bed, chair, table, sofa and dresser and the Classic chair, table, sofa and desk--so if your version of Nook's is carrying anything to get me closer to completion, I'd appreciate the invite!

My last question is more of an opinion of the veterans--do you think it's worth trying to grow a money tree? I know that it's wasted bells if it decides not to grow and it only sprouts money once.. I'm not sure it's worth it but I'm interested in more experienced player's opinions about it!

That's it. I'll be around until 4PM EST (I know, only forty-five minutes but I have lofty hopes to be available tonight after I deal with some stuff in the real world this evening ;P) Gate closed!

Spiffy image that contains all my town's information! )
