I've lived in Somerset all my life about half an hour away from the site, and have cried the last couple of times when my parents have been and Ive had to stay at home.

Im gonna be working in the church tent, so if anyone wants to meet up feel free to let me know.

Hey, I'm coming all the way from Canada by myself and it will be my first time at Glastonbury. Does anyone want to be my friend? lol!

I'm sure it's easy to get to know people once there, but I was hoping I could meet some people online before and maybe we could organize to camp close to one another. Or maybe you wouldn't mind letting me join your existing group? Geez, I sound like such a lame-o party crasher. I'm not really. I'm like totally cool, like you know? I just happen to be alone :)

Who's going then?

It all seems a bit anti-climactic this year i think, with tickets not yet sold out. I for one am very excited though and already praying for sunshine!

How to deal with ticket touting the MP way - Let everyone benefit bar the concert-goer!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7179834.stm

Artists and sports bodies should share profits from tickets resold on internet auction sites, MPs have said.

In a report on touting, they have stopped short of calling for a ban, but have told online touts to "clean up their act" because they exploit fans.

Surprisingly Ebay is happy to support this, as well
The Resale Rights Society (RRS) - representing the managers of the Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead and Robbie Williams and more than 400 other acts - has already said it would support a levy being added to resold tickets.

So... their solution to beat touting is to do the following:

Allow touts to continue to make money.
Allow those already making money from the tickets to make even more money (as said on the article, like Ford getting money from used car sales).
Allow sites like Ebay to continue to profit.
Make no difference to consumers, as touts will probably just up prices to counteract the levy.
Effect them negatively, as that means anyone wishing to sell their ticket due to illness etc. will lose money.

But Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis said touting should be banned, and the problem of re-selling tickets should be dealt with by getting people to pre-register and putting photos on tickets.

Commendable, Michael, but thats not the best solution.

How should we sort it? Ban reselling tickets, and force ticket agencies to issue refunds (they will lose no money this way, and still make money because they would probably just pay for the price of the ticket, not the additional fees). That's it. The consumer wins. They can then resell the ticket via normal means.

It's crazy, and this really pisses me off. Benefitting the ticket holder is not what this is about, benefitting those who make money is what is, and what our current crop of MP's are good for. The tout to them is not really terrible, he's a clever little capitalist, and so he can make his money, ticket agencies can get even MORE, and so can everyone else. The loser, even MORE now: The ticket-holder. Doesn't surprise me a Lib Dem backs this.

Simple. But no, they make it more complicated to fuck people over more.

Argh. When will the trauma end? I'm guessing not till i've got the tickets in my grubby little hands :(

Michael Eavis has issued the following statement:-

“This year, because of the new registration system, and in response to many requests, I am pleased to announce that when tickets go on sale on 1st April, it will be possible to buy up to four tickets in a single transaction.

Not only will this be more convenient for families and groups, but it should vastly reduce the number of cars coming to the farm.”

After all the speculation and denials, we expect Friday to be headlined by The Killers. Saturday night should see the Arctic Monkeys headline, preceded by Kasabian. Sunday should see Kaiser Chiefs play, followed by The Who closing the Pyramid stage. For those who like to dance, we're pretty certain that The Chemical Brothers will close the Festival on The Other Stage. Remember where you read it first!

If this is true, Glastonbury will go down in my books as having the worst headliners of all time.

2003: Radiohead, REM, Moby
2007: ..... I can't even say it. The Arctic Monkeys didn't even deserve the main stage at Reading, the Killers are.... ovverated live, haven't enough songs, are not known enough, and are not ... worthy. Kasabian... meh. And the Who are bastardised by the fact I might have to see another pile of shite before them to be in a good position.

Luckily I can't give a shit about the headliners.

At some point on Monday 28th August the Solfest Stone was stolen from the festival site in West Cumbria, and has been missing ever since.

The stone was stolen from just outside the main entrance of the Celtic, World and Roots festival, where it had been displayed over the weekend.

The festival organisers are extremely distressed at the theft of the stone, as it is seen as the talisman of the Solfest festival. They are willing to offer a free ticket for life to anyone who can provide information leading to its safe return.

If you have any information please email enquiries@solwayfestival.co.uk.

A wee bit wet

Down in the main arena it was a bit more dramatic. Can you see the woman in the background floating serenely on a purple blow-up chair?!

A view through the trees

On up the hill up "Muddy Lane" (ironically, one of the less muddy places that day) on the way to the bank.

Hello, you two!

Check out my staff!

Cow Stack

Art.

The Griffin at Dusk

Twilight in the Stone Circle Field.

3D Man!

We couldn't work out why people were wearing 3D specs for Fatboy Slim, but we dug it, so we hollered at this geeze until we could photograph him.

Fay throws shapes

Oh dear...

C in her element

Yay!

Watch where you're putting that thing!

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, we came across a trio battling with unusual weapons. One of which was a mud-spattered dildo...

Hat-tastic

SU and C demonstrate their hat-wearing abilities in the field of Lost Vagueness.

C and Michael

Michael Eavis asks us to help Make Poverty History.

C and Bob

Sir Bob Geldoff exhorts us to help Make Poverty History.

Distant Ash

If you squint very carefully, you can make out the dinstinctive white Flying V of the lead singer of Ash's guitar. I keep swearing not to take band photos at festivals, and always give in and come home with lots of pics of backs of heads...

Elevated Keane

That's better! If you ask a woman perched on someone's shoulders you can get a much better shot...

Coldplay

We were that close to Coldplay. No, really it is Coldplay. Honest.

Bugger.

Mud Goddess

No, not me or C but a random wayside sculpture.

Glasto? A bit pagan? Nah...

Shaking Booty

The cultural phenomenon that is The Bellydancing Allstars.

The Dragon of Avalon

The picture doesn't do the atmosphere any justice

Sleeping Dragon...

Neither does this. He's magnificent.

The Lady Vanishes

The pool of the Lady of Avalon. The water streams down from it to feed the stream that flow through the Dragon.

Sadly, the weather battered the withy-and-paper respresentation of the Lady to pieces. Ironic, huh?

Peaceful Field

Aaaah, the peace of the Stone Cirle, virtually unmarked by the minor mud disaster...

Inflatable Woman

The dance tent people had it right - what we want more of is giant inflatable women...

Shirley not...

... yes, it's Shirley Manson of Garbage. Yum.

Elegantly Wasted!

Heh heh...

Have a suck on this...

BA offers C a suck on his, er, tube...

Bent over backwards

I was quite enjoying myself...

Tatt-tastic!

For some reason best known to my sleep-deprived, utterly fuddled brain, I decided to take a photo of this man's tattoo... like, totally cool, man!

Gillespie

Bobby Gillespie. Or is it lupe101?!

Mud Dragon!

Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you, that's a seven-foot mud sculpture of a dragon with a football in his mouth. We protected him for a while during Basement Jaxx at the behest of the stoners who'd taken four hours to construct him. They wandered away after a while...

Hee hee!

OK then... what did everyone see and what did you think?

I saw:
Countermine – instantly forgettable Nickleback-esque group
Willy Mason – cool acoustic set. Talented young man
Nine Black Alps – quality rock group that I've only just heard of
The Zutons – excellent set which filled me with energy; a surprising highlight
Doves – great songs, but something not quite right with the sound. Not as good as I was hoping
Babyshambles – Babyshambolic more like. I watched about 10 minutes and he was off his face. Couldn't pull it off
The Killers – great performance, great atmosphere
The White Stripes – absolutely fantastic. Jack White is one of the most talented guitarists around (with the exception of Matthew Bellamy). Why don't I own any of their albums?
The Deadbeats – cool acoustic set
I Am Kloot – a few cool quirky numbers mixed in with a few forgettable tracks
Kaiser Chiefs – absolutely fantastic. A band to look out for
Ash – a band who always delivers a solid set, guaranteed to put you in a good mood. Particularly enjoyed Girl From Mars and the Teenage Kicks cover
The Coral – surprisingly disappointing. Played ok, but didn't think they picked the best songs
Kasabian – rocking set which would have blown me away in a small venue
Coldplay – I agonised over whether to see these guys or Razorlight. They put on a great show, but I also heard Razorlight did, too. Reminded me how much I like some of the classics
Thirteen Senses – like Keane with guitars. Better than Keane, in fact. Perform well live, but not tremendously memorable
Jools Holland – great fun and dancing to be had
Sons and Daughters – as mediocre as they were last time I saw them. Why do people like them?
Brian Wilson – good feeling music, great dancing to be had, though he didn't look too well
Rufus Wainwright – I wasn't expecting him to be up to much, but I was blown away. Particularly by his cover of Hallelujah. Wow.
Primal Scream – the best thing I saw all festival. I moshed like I was on speed and no one would stand next to me! The insults and finally getting kicked off stage were just the icing on the cake!
Ian Brown – thoroughly enjoyable, as was not expecting Stone Roses numbers. Disappointed about the lack of en core. Would have been good to see Fools Gold, though I understand this wasn't his fault and was due to the curfew.

With regards to the weather, yes it was muddy, but it didn't detract from a f*cking fantastic festival as far as I'm concerned. Did anyone here's tent get flooded? Out of interest, did any of you camp behind the cinema and get involved in the two-hour singalong complete with a horn and Flash Gordan? Did anyone do anything crazy? Any stories to tell? I played a Goonies drinking game on Thursday and smoked a little special stuff – somehow we ended up in stone circle and then got lost on the way back to tent. Had no idea what I said or did, but was woken up the next morning by someone coming into my tent that I'd told I'd like to have sex with, who came to follow it up. It all came flooding back. Yes, fooling around ensued, but I took it slightly easier afterwards!

Hope a quality time was had by all!

"Rain Briefly Stops Play at Glastonbury"

It's slightly soggy on site at Glastonbury, as a thunderstorm begins to blow itself out. It all began in the early hours, with heavy rain and thunder and lightning continuing through the morning.

Spirits are still high, queues for wellies and waterproofs are flourishing, but as the festival's music stages are due to open, some campers are being forced to bail out. As rivers of rainwater and runoff gush through certain campsites and with up to three feet of water in places, people are moving their tents and rescuing soaking sleeping bags and the like, moving into the large tented areas around the festival site.

There's no moaning as yet - festival goers seem to have half-expected this to happen and are currently in action mode trying to save their belongings, with everyone helping out and relishing the drama of the situation that will make their festival story a more exciting one to tell when they get home.

In Dance Village, the Dance Lounge has split in half under the force of the storm - it is currently being fixed, so that when the rain stops and the sun comes out (it is trying), events can continue as normal.

Pedestrian gate C is currently closed, as Stewards deal with an excess of water, so getting on site by that route could be difficult, but in true Glastonbury spirit, rain will never entirely stop play.

Taken from the official glasto website.

YIKES.
