Today was pretty good. Carrie and I didn't have speech so we hung out with Stevie J before class. That kid has the best stories. Oh my. He was in my dream the other night. And i had to make him a taco with 2 pieces of bread in no meat. THAT'S A FUCKED UP DREAM! There was more to it, but ya'll don't want none-o-dis.
Then I went to my Educational Psych. class in the cafeteria so we could observe people's behaviors. There was deffenitly a group of Afro-Americans gambling at the table behind mine. Then a girl sitting at the same table as me started getting into a fight with one of the gambling dudes. All I heard is " Motha fucka you so damn ugly, get some new clothes, Ima fuck you up bitch!" Oh man. It was probably the highlight of that class. That, and seeing GREG MUNDAAAAAY! AHaha
And now my Dutt-a-licious is going to be leaving me for five days or some shit. Shitty titties. Im missin you already Main Damie. I dont want to go to class and had suicide thoughts on my own. Then it just looks weird when im pushing the "wrap it up" button and muttering " i BARELY EVER heard of jay leno!" and " Lemme , lemme ask ya somethin'" Lame sauce.
I went and got my free facial today. It was fun. The lady was totally out there. with her " I weynt tuh see the pyassion yof the Chriyst and bawled miyyy eyes yout" with her minnisota accent. But my face feels baby ass smooth now.
And I should be doing homework now, but i just do not really feel like it. For serious. here comes the unmotivation.

the last day of lollapalooza 2009 is on my 21st birthday.

i think this string of terribleness is finally over for the time being. there is still a lot to sort out, a lot to be done this weekend, a lot to get off of my chest... but i feel better. and tonight.. after some lasagna, caesar salad and cheesecake, i'm sure i'll be feeling a million times better.

Last night I was on my way to Synergy, a Christian society here at the University of Sheffield. It was held in Crookes church. I was with Dave. As we got there, some little boys came up to us, pushing and shoving, 'asking' for money. They must have been about ten and were about half my size. "Give us some money". Anyway, whilst Dave taunted his child chav, who asked for 'big money', mine decided to try and hit me because I didn't have any money. The first swipe came as more of a slap, the second was an actual clenched fist - yes, I was hit by a 10 year old. He actually had to use my shoulder to propel himself upwards and reach my face. I fortunately avoided the third swipe and walked into the church. Poor children that need to do that.
Well.
I have had a good day. Although it started with a seminar at 9am. But this was a relatively good experience. And there's another guy in the group who is a Christian. Yeah! Then I had a lecture about the rise of Islam and the Arab destruction of the Persian and the Byzantine Empires, as well as including the move from the focus of the Mediterranean to the North Sea (and so the growth of the Franks and their link with the papacy). I don't know why I included all that as it's pretty irrelevant - but it's cool. Yeah.

There's not enough left for my sanity.
Yet, I'm a selfish bitch for trying to preserve it, myself.
I need a guiding light while I search for meaning in the darkness.

So today was aight. I am very sleepy. I just made a chedderella grilled cheese with steak-um and sauteed tomatoes and red peppers. De-lish!
Tomorrow I dont have speech, so that will be nice. I took my car in for inspection and something was squealing, and apparently it was my breaks. So Im really glad I took it in when I did. That rack'em racked me up for about 222.90$ Not too bad, but still. Im so sick of bringing my car in aw godayumned day! It gets old real fast. But Atleast I can drive.
Tomorrow I think Carrie and I are chillin with stevie mutha fuckin J. Hopefully there will be no exploding fluids this time 0__o oo-wee! Then Carrie my mom and I all have this free facial thing to go to. That should be fun. I hope. Biutches are pry gonna try to sell me shit. But i'll just be like " Im a student, i have a shitty car, i pay my own bills, i make minimum wage.....you wanna try to sell me something now?" true story morning mutha fuckin glory.
Oh my little whitey Tom. I <3 that kid. He has always been so nice to me. AND hes helarious. I wonder if it wasnt for my b/fs and his trisha situation, if we would have ever hooked up? I dont think so, but you never can tell with bees. Man he is indeed awesome.

Got back into 'Y: The Last Man' again... finally. I guess I had enough Ennis for a bit and wanted something a bit more lighthearted. This series really is pretty great, even if book 4 was a little too much military for me. I like that he's really thought about what would happen if America fell to chaos. I just passed the Sons of Arizona part, where eight crazy women in Arizona take over I-40 and cut off shipping across the country, effectively starving the west coast. (Utah is one giant forest fire at this point)
It's all about REVELATION, turn the page... REVELATION!, page 3... REVELATION! Never really feels over the top, it just goes to show how little information a book can give, and still hand it out bit by bit to keep you reading. I blew through books 3 and 4 yesterday without blinking.

i don't know why i expected much of anything else... i invest way too much into people sometimes - trust especially. i'm confused about most things in my life right now.
i'm not sure why this semester is especially stressing me out - but it is. i don't know how i went from being so excited about school to being completely unsure and insecure. i can't help but play it safe. i wish i wasn't so afraid to just show everyone what i am really capable of.
this week is kind of do or die. i don't know why, but i feel like my attitude for the rest of this semester completely rides on this week. i have 70 photographs due for critique, a completed handmade bound book, a process book of all my notes and sketches, an outline and bibliography (for a paper that i still have no topic for..) and a pdf spread of all my calendar pages and a completed ad campaign all due by tuesday of next week. great stuff. i just know if i fall short this week - i'm going to fall short the rest of the semester. i can't let myself slip.
i went to the white sox vs devil rays playoff game last night with david. the white sox got beat... bad. the final score was 6-2 and that game put them out of the running. i'm bummed... but they're still my team, and me and dave still had a really good time. you can't really ever go wrong with hot dogs, beer, and hilarious, bitter drunk men. i love baseball games.
even if your heart would listen - i doubt i could explain.

I got really sick tonight at work. I came home early. I drank some tea and tried to die on the toilet. I didn't die on the toilet. I'm going to bed now. I feel like a failure. I let down my coworkers. I wonder if they poisoned my food as some kind of a test to see if I could stick it out and keep working, and now I wonder if I failed that test. I left my radio on as I was driving away and I heard John say 'My other Sup left me.' I felt worse. I hope to feel better tomorrow. I need to clean the gutters and watch bad Christian cinema. I don't know which is more painful.

The Twilight Sad - Walking for two hours |

The last two days have been packed full of seminars and lectures (eight hours in two days), which has been extremely tiring. Fortunately the lectures are usually interesting. So yesterday we have one lecturer singing to us about the barbarians to the tune of that song the ape sings in the Jungle Book animated film. Hilarious. He then continues with an 'encore' (someone shouted more) mimicking The Arctic Monkeys' 'I bet you look good on the dancefloor'. The funny thing is that up until that moment the lecture was really boring.
Today I started with a lecture regarding ontology, epistemology and methodology, followed by a lecture regarding the Early Modern period's view on life, death and everything in between. Then we had a lecture about Aristotle (who thought that the ideal political system (Polis) should be near the sea; women should marry at 18, men at 37... and if possible in the winter; education should be the core activity of the Polis, with music at the centre of the curriculum - although children should be discouraged from playing the flute as it does not have a good moral effect, being far too exciting and making the face look ugly) and following that there was a lecture about the conversion of the Roman Empire and the following barbarian kingdoms to Christianity in the time of Constantine onwards...
So all in all quite interesting.
Good times. But time consuming times. Leading to long, long days. And jacket potatoes for tea. Today anyway.

In similar news, Fotini 'let me sleep in', and she did it in her own funny little way. A funny little way that involves blow drying her hair, cleaning out the refrigerator and doing the dishes. All before she left for work at 630, all while trying to let me sleep in. Thanks baby! I know she meant well... I think it's funny. At least she didn't vacuum the sheets I was lying on or used the leaf blower to clean up dog hair in the bedroom.

I think that new Of Montreal finally comes out today. I really liked Hissing Fauna, so I'm looking forward to it. Already pre-ordered the new Lambchop as I'm almost positive I won't find it locally.

That's me. Well, that's my Rock Band 2 avatar anyway. It took me a while, and five coats of face paint to get him to look all beat up, but I'm pretty proud of him. I was going for a Patrick Bateman look, but after a fight. His hands are bandaged up too, but that was an accessory. I'll try and get a shot of my guitar paint job too. Maybe my band avatar as well, I spent some time on that too.

Been playing a lot of 'Overlord' lately. Great game. I forgot how much it felt like an evil Pikmin. I just got red minions today. I'm going for the 100% evil overlord... i kinda feel like a dick though. I'm enslaving women to clean my castle, and burning down peoples houses, taking food from the mouths of babies, etc. It's just not 'me', but I've already gone too far to have a clean conscience.

Worked 2-1030 today... worst. schedule. ever. oh well... its only this week. i'm BEAT though. i was getting pretty tired of handling customer complaints... i had three in a row, boom boom boom, and it was starting to make me pissed off at my cashiers. its not 100% their fault, its just... weak customer service i guess. 99% of the time, 99% of the people are great, but it's that tenth of a percent of the time that was ragging me out. oh well... tomorrow is another day.

I had a the best/craziest weekend.
It's been a long time.
I actually partied this weekend.
It's been a long time since I've gone out partying and such.
I've been so busy with other stuff.
God, I felt seventeen again. In the best possible way.
Hah; last night we had a motel party. Can you say sketchy?
The cops OF COURSE came and knocked.
And about five of us, decided it would be a good idea to climb out of a 2X2 food window.
It reminded me of all the good ol' days. Bookin it from cops and cracking up about it later.
My friend was like, do you think we could fit..?
And I was already up and out. HAH.
Had to go back later and search for my hat.
Found it. I HAVE to own that hat forever now.
Anyways, back to work tomorrow for a full week.

'Beverly Hills Chihuahua' was the #1 movie this weekend, pulling in $29 million dollars. That's roughly FOUR MILLION individual morons shelling out $5-10 each to spend two hours of their lives watching this film. Way to vote with your pocketbook.

This weekend, I watched the movie Rocket Science, which was written and directed by the director of the documentary, Spellbound. Rocket Science tells the story of a high school loner with a stutter, who joins the debate team (which, coincidentally, also happened in the director's own life). The movie follows the pseudo-indie playbook pretty closely: wide, hyper-symmetrical shots, hip music, awkward music, awkward characters, solid acting, and a solid script. For me, it holds up more than Juno or Little Miss Sunshine because it is far more relatable and realistic. It stands its ground aesthetically too, especially on the extreme close ups with intense depth of field. The characters are awkward in a lovable way, not so much a painful way (like in The Squid And The Whale). It's worth adding to the top of your Netflix queue for sure.
This weekend, I also finished my journey through HBO's The Wire. I can't emphasize enough the thorough quality of this show. The series ends beautifully. Since I could write a book on this show, I'll try to hold back a bit here. Through the series, you are given an honest picture of Baltimore--through the bureaucracy and victims of the drug game, the police force, the government, the education system, and the media. It's a full scope. I'll leave you with this quote from a documentary featured on the final DVD of the series: "The Wire hasn't won an Emmy?! The Wire deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature!"

And I was earnestly and fervently praying (in my head) to God about needing to get to know more people and having a friend or two. And then this evening I bumped into Andrew Harrison and it was obvious that God was saying "Err... look, you do have friends. I have provided them." So that was nice - thank you God.
And in all seriousness, I probably would not have survived the past two weeks without Dave.
The past week was relatively good. I guess I was a bit lonely and then I got frustrated, but I think I have come out of that all the more positive.
This evening Dave and I picked up this America guy on the way to church and he sort of stuck to us, which was nice in a way. A lot of the questions he asked were way over my head and he was really up front about things - one of the first questions being "do you think it's wrong to date a non-Christian girl?" He was nice enough though. I guess that was his way of working out what the church and the people are like.
I had sausage and mash and lots of vegetables for dinner (although admittedly the sausage and mash were a cheap microwaveable meal that was on offer in the shop). The sausages were delicious.
Anyway, back to Rome.

work today. Bleeehhhh! I feel gross. I hope this isnt me getting sick like everyone else. Personally I think its because I ate three pieces of chocolate cake, fresh out-the-oven style. AND my problem is here. WHOS your problem? WHERES your problem.... haha oh man.
Nellie is being very needy and begs for food alot more in the absence of Blackie <3 guh. She has a strange obsession with licking toes.
Last night I planned to come home, but I was getting so tierd after that cake, and martin says to me " SO what time should I set the alarm for?" So I ended up sleeping over. It was nice. There was a ruble duble, but it only lasted about 5 minutes. After that it was all good, bay be BAY BEEE

I had a ballin day with currie and the Crew going to Artifax. I CANNOT believe i didnt get pulled over by that cop. Like seriously WTF?!?!??!?! I shoulda been down and out in a matter of second, but dude didnt even do anything. Christ maybe I really am lucky withnot getting caught. If my High school career is anything to judge by that ^__^ oh man. I guess you could say IM a professional. AHhaha but yeah good times.
now im ago drop a duece before work, and hope that makes me feel better

mm champagne on the porch :)
i'm falling in love with this chilly weather. i just wish i could avoid the inevitable arctic of all that is chicago in the winter. right now is perfect though. so so perfect. i forgot how much love cardigans, and light jackets, and scarves and boots :) i hope it stays for another few weeks.
long talks with jenni are probably the best. i'm really happy she's here.
partytime 2008 tonight.
can't wait for my ladies to get home.
