Pasta Nite!

the pasta came out perfect!

we had barilla farfalle with barilla mushroom & garlic boscaiola(red sauce),
zucchini,sauteed older button mushrooms,and turkey kielbasa.

after dinner we are having pellegrino(an italian sparkling mineral water) mixed
with V-8 over ice in karen's grandmother's etched stemware.

and i put a mrs. smith's blueberry pie in the oven.

the pie just came out of the oven.

it needs to cool for half an hour.

i've had pellegrino and V8 Lemon Splash before but never together before!

It was another Valentine's Day dinner!

I mananged to keep myself busy this weekend. I didn't want to just loaf around.

Friday I went to go see Unleashed.
It was a fun movie. It was a different movie for Jet Li. Morgan
Freeman was cool, but he usually is. I've seen a couple of Luc Besson's
films. He usually picks some very pretty actresses for his films. Then
for dinner I had some skirt steak that I cut up and marinated in Trader
Joe's Thai Red Curry Sauce.

Then on Saturday I took the Gold Line down town and went to Phillipes,
the home of the French Dip Sandwich. Damn that was a good sandwich.
They have a whole bunch of different types of French Dip Sandwiches. I
had the classic beef. And I also had some pecan pie. Then I
walked around China Town a little bit. Then I took the train back to
the Southwest Museum of the American Indian. They are part of the Autry Museum of the American West.
I hadn't been there before so I went and checked it out. They have a
large section on the California Indians and it's broken down into
Northern, Central and Southern California. I stayed there for a
little while and then took the train back home. I veged out for
the night, then I went to a Midnight showing of Enter the Dragon
at the Rialto Theater in South Pasadena. I saw The Life of Brian there
last week. Enter the Dragon was kind of a cheesy movie compared
to today's movies, but it is over 30 years old. It was the first
of Bruce Lee's movies to hit it big in this country. But it was
fun. The Rialto is a cool theater though. Next weekend is the
Rocky Horror Picture Show. I went a couple of times when I was in high
school, but I never because a regular. After a while it just got
to be tedious. But a couple of times is fun, just to say that I did it.

Well I've been in my new house for a couple of weeks now. I'm really liking it. I've managed to keep it nice, but I haven't been there long enought to really make a mess. I've got a lot of my new furniture put together. The other day I got the coffee table put together. The style is Nuevo Target. But at least the furniture goes together. I can't afford the fancy smancy Antique furniture. Not yet at least. But it's comfortable. And it's really close to the Real World. I don't have to leave super early for work. Before I moved, it would easily take me almost an hour to get to work with traffic. Which was a pain in the neck. And most of it is on one 3 mile strech. But that section of the 101 Freeway is ALWAYS bad. Well, except at 1am when I'm driving home tonight.

The defense in the Michael Jackson case is wrapped up. That freek probably did molest those kids. But I'm sure that the jury is so enthralled about, oohhhh, the Famous Person that they're going to let him go. Just like they did with O.J. But I know that at some time, he's going to get what's coming to him. I don't think that Mikey would survive jail anyhow. The cons would rip that pretty boy apart. But even if he did go to jail, he'd get special treatment.

My boss is going nuts. He went and bought a bunch of baseball cards and he knows NOTHING about baseball or collecting cards. I think that he's just looking for a quick buck. He called up tonight and asked me to look up prices of baseball cards on the Internet. I couldn't find much for free but a friend of one of my co-workers and his dad used to run a baseball card shop.

On Saturday my friend and I ar going to go and see "Enter the Dragon". For all you you youngins that's a Bruce Lee flick from the 70's. You know, bell bottoms, big hair, disco. :-) But this is the movie that made Bruce Lee a big star here in the States. It's a classic flick. It's going to be a midnight showing at the Rialto in South Pasadena. The theater is a cool old theater that only has one screen, before the multimegaplex movie theaters. It's one of those theaters that actually has some class. It's got an Egyptian and Spanish Baroque design. It was built back in 1925. Very cool theater.

as most of you know
i had a psychotic break the other day . . .

split into alters . . .

deleted my blogs for about three hours . . .

demoted myself from maintainer to member
in most of my communities . . .

have no great desire to be a mod of gadzillion communities again . . .

focusing *much* more on the real world . . .

and connecting to my new church home at st. james . . .

i more or less back together . . .

if anybody is unhappy at finding themselves the mod of one my communities,
you have my blessing to delete the community
or pass the torch to someone else . . .

severly limiting my time spent on live journal . . .

i did make it to the worship service yesterday . . .

it was all saints day sunday.

the episcopal church is the closest protestant church
to the catholic church . . .

called the anglican church in england . . .

pastor geoff little was on fire
with the holy spirit . . .

since it was the first sunday of the month
the service was in both spanish and english
with the lyrics to the hymns
projected on a side wall . . .

i know enough spanish that i could figure out
most of the words . . .

the guest preacher was a missionary from kenya
who gave a sermon based on the beatitudes
and a parable about a man
who house was in flames
and kills the fleeing rats
rather than save his valuables.

pastor geoff translated
the kenyan missionary's sermon
into spanish.

musical accompaniment to the service
included pastor geoff on the guitar,
a very gifted pianist,
somebody playing the organ,
a soloist singing from the organ loft,
and a church member on tamborine.

there were a group of asian missionaries in attendance.

afterwards was a huge gathering
in the church basement
for lunch.

took me several minutes to adjust my mind
to being in such a huge crowd
but i didn't freak out.

waited until the lines at the buffet table thinned down
and had some tasty food.

sat at a table with a bunch of strangers
all of whom greeted me warmly . . .

did my usual routines afterwards . . .

had iced decaf coffee and some apple juice at the coffee shop . . .

fed the birds at the park . . .

who got french fries
that i'd saved from two happy meals
along with four slices of bread . . .

could have sworn that i heard one of the seagulls
squawk "ffren fies!"
like a friend's daughter used to do
when she was a toddler! ::smiles::

then i hiked back up the hill
to our local subway . . .

used the la-la . . .

ordered a seafood wrap for karen,
a grilled chicken salad for me,
two chocolate chip cookies,
and my usual mango madness snapple.

next stop was dunkins donuts
for orange juice,milk,
bagels,and their new yummy cinnamon sticks.

my good mood crashed when i asked for the key
to the bathroom there and
the counter girl said it was out of service
and gave me a dirty look
like i would probably leave lice on the toilet seat.

factors that make me think she was lying to me:
1.i had just seen another employee exit the bathroom
2.i had fixed the toilet yesterday afternoon
(was a simple matter of re-attaching the chain
to the handle for the toilet).

so i went across the street to mcdonald's
ingnored the "restrooms are for customers only" sign
and used the men's room
which was unlocked.

wanted to get home quickly
so i skipped my happy meal.

they've ended the disney/madame alexander doll series
at mickey dees and
are now doing toys based on
the disney/pixar film the incredibles . . .

my meds and the exercise of long walks
make me very thirsty
so i carry a cup of iced beverage
with me on my journeys in the neighborhood . . .

the branch library has a nice bathroom
that doesn't require a key
but they are closed on fridays and sundays
during the fall . . .

like blanche dubois from the classic film
streetcar named desire
"i've always depended upon
the kindness of strangers" . . .

i can mimic her accent in that famous line
fairly well . . .

if you ignore my *very* nasal voice
and hint of a lisp . . .
