this is the first draft of the community application. if we decide to go with it, i can put it in the userinfo as a text box that applicants just have to copy and paste. that way all the questions will be bold and the answers not (so it's easier to read) and will automatically put in an lj-cut.

also behind here are some notes/ideas on the application and rules and some promotional banners i made. i would really appreciate feedback on all of this.

the only part of this application that i think should perhaps be taken out (or at least taken out once we have a decent number of members) is the part about promoting the community as part of the application. it's really annoying to do that, especially before you're even part of the community. however, a lot of communities do it to bring in new members, so it's up to everyone else if you think it should be there or not.

i chose the questions i did because they're diverse while also including the basics and i think it's a complete enough application to give us enough to judge on. i for one find the "your opinion on..." questions very good because they're important and controversial issues and knowing where someone stands on them shows you not just what type of person you're voting on but also their intelligence.

i put in the lighthearted amusing stuff (like about the mods; and anyway, we can do that, so i think we should to see what people come up with, plus they do it everywhere these days) just for some fun.

as for rules, i think these should be considered:

*no applicants under a certain age (i say fourteen)
*putting "rape me" in the subject line to make it easier for us AND to be sure all rules are read
*members can't give mods any shit or attack anyone who votes no, warnings and bannings if they do
*no posting anywhere but on your own application before you're accepted
*must fill out ENTIRE application or it doesn't count until it's fixed

anyway, that's what i think and it's worked VERY well in other communities i run. i hope everyone agrees. if we all agree, i'll do the userinfo page.
