FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. How many people can claim a character? Only one person can claim a character or pairing at a time. However, two or more people can claim the same fandom.

2. My character pairing has already been claimed! What do I do? You can sign up to be waitlisted or choose another claim. If you choose to be waitlisted, you will be contacted about your claim once the person has finished the seven fics. Waitlisting is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

3. Can I claim more than one character/pairing at a time? Yes, you can, however those pairings or characters can't be of the same fandom.

4. Can I claim a crossover/original character? Original characters, no, but fandom crossovers are welcome.

5. If I pick a pairing, does every piece have to have that pairing in it? Not explicitly, but you should at least allude to it.

6. Can I repost old (by "old" I mean completed before the date you requested to join) fanfiction for the prompts? No. If I find out somehow that you've done it, I'll delete the post. But then again, I'm not going to be arsed to comb your journal to see if it's been posted before.

7. Can I edit/reassign prompts for previously posted fics? Sure. Just go back to your post, click "Edit Post" and switch out the prompt.

8. Can I claim a group of characters (e.g. for Harry Potter the Marauders, the Trio, Slytherins, or for example Final Fantasy 7 The Turks...) Certainly.

9. How long to the fics have to be? At least 100 words, but they can be as long as you want.

10. What ratings/types of fic are allowed? G through NC-17, and anything you can think of, from fluff to deathfic.

11. Are there any deadlines? No, but keep in mind that other people may be waiting to take a crack at your claim.

12. Can I post fics that I've written for this elsewhere? Repost whereever you want. It's your fic, after all.

13. Can I use fics I've written for other challenges? Yes, as long as it fits into the specification of "new fic," which is, you wrote it after you claimed your character(s) here.

14. How central does the prompt/song have to be to the fic? Don't stress it. Use it as inspiration or for an added dimension. Hell, just stick a random prompt onto a fic. I won't be able to tell.

15. May I edit lyrics of a song to fit the story? Sure, but a majority of the lyrics and the song must still be contained in the story. If you'd like to remove repeating choruses, feel free to do so.

16. May I claim real person fic/slash? Yes, you may, just make sure to add all necessary warnings and disclaimers to your fics when you post them.

Should you have any more questions, feel free to post them in a comment to this post.
