Rules and FAQ
Hello! Welcome to
5drabbles.
Rules
1. Each story should follow the general "Five Things That Never Happened" format. That is, each story focuses on one particular character. Each story deals with five things that did not happen to that character. Still confused? Read some examples at the Buffy Five Things Archive.
2. Each section of your story should be a drabble. That is, it should be exactly 100 words long. Your story, when completed, should be exactly 500 words long, no more, no less. The title does not factor in to the word count.
3. Your stories should be about fictional characters only. No real person fic allowed!
4. No plagarism. You should have written every one of the 500 words in your story. Don't steal them from somewhere else.
That's it for the rules.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a claim?
No claims! Just start writing!
Deadlines?
None! No claims -- hence, no deadlines. Just post when you have a finished story.
What ratings/kinds of stories are allowed?
Any and all. Anything from G to NC-17, gen, het, slash -- it's all good! I do ask, however, that any adult content be clearly labeled as such and posted behind a cut.
Does it have to be five things that NEVER happened?
No, it doesn't. It could be five things that did happen, or four things that happened and one that didn't, or any variation of a five things story you can think of. Let your imagination run wild!
Which fandoms can I write in?
Any fandom that catches your fancy! Television shows, movies, books, anime, original characters -- whatever you like! Please keep the rules in mind, though: no real person fic.
Are fake cuts okay?
Sure!
How about crossovers or AUs?
No problemo! All "Five Things" stories are little AUs, by definition.
What is the minimum word count?
500 words total, 100 words per section.
How about the maximum word count?
Same deal. That's the point of this challenge -- each section is one drabble.
What's a drabble?
A drabble is a story that is exactly 100 words long. Not 99 words, not 101 words. 100.
Where can I post the stories?
After you post it here, you can post it anywhere you like! Put it on your own LJ, your website, and/or any other LJ community, mailing list, or archive that you want to!
What should I include in my posts?
Your subject line should read like this:
FIC: "Story Title Here," Fandom Name, Prompt # (if applicable).
The body of your post should include this information:
TITLE:
AUTHOR:
FANDOM:
PROMPT USED:
RATING:
DISCLAIMER:
WARNINGS:
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
If you aren't using the prompts, or if you don't have any warnings or notes to include, you may leave that part out.
Please put the body of your story behind a cut.
Should I use tags?
Please! Tag each story with the fandom and the character. For a list of current tags, click here. For more information about using tags on this comm, click here.
Are co-authored stories acceptable?
Of course!
I have a question that isn't answered here. What do I do?
Please reply to this post and ask your question in the "comments" section.
