POSTING GUIDELINES

The main point of this community is to support and develop writing that is lean and sparse in form, yet poetically and grammatically sound. In particular, we hope to make an honest effort to write poems that are relatively short and avoid all that is unnecessary -- including words.

1) Any member of this community may (i.e., is allowed but not required to) post one short poem per week. Anything between 10 to 20 syllables will do, but we are not obsessed with counting syllables or anything else.

2) Anyone may post as many comments as one wants to. Those comments can follow some particular poetic form or not. That is, your comment can be an additional short poem, or it can be an elaborate critical essay.

3) Anyone who posts three comments may post an additional short poem.

4) Anyone can post as many theoretical articles about writing haiku, senryu, and similar forms as one wants to. Also, anyone can post as many exercises about writing haiku, senryu and other lean and sparse forms as one wants to.

5) Anyone who posts a 17 syllables long poem will be automatically banned, especially, if the poem is versified 5 - 7 - 5 and the breaks come after articles or before prepositions, etc. (OK, we are only kidding about the rule, but we really do not care about 5 - 7 - 5 stuff.)
