I have enabled tagging by members. Here are the basic rules.

Rules for Tagging of Entries
1 ) General guidelines
i. Lower case only.
ii. Full titles, no abbreviations. i.e. Honey and Clover, not HachiKuro
iii. For non-English series, use English titles. i.e. Spirited Away, not Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi and Prince of Tennis instead of Tenisu no Oujisama.

2 ) Format: name of category_colon_space_title of fandom (remove the underscores)
e.g. animanga: naruto
books: harry potter
movies: spirited away

3 ) Year
This is necessary so people know which year this story was written and for which set of themes. The mod will create the tag for the year. Do not create any new tags for this category.

4 ) Tag titles and categories
i. animanga
Self-explanatory. I collapsed anime and manga into one category as many mangas are made into anime and occasionally vice versa.

ii. animation
All other animation series that is not anime. e.g. Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Avatar the Last Airbender. This also includes cartoons like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Care Bears.

iii. books

iv. movies
All movies, including comic and book adaptations, anime movies (e.g. The Golden Compass, Harry Potter, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle)

v. television
Specifically for live-action series (as opposed to animated series). Supernatural, Blackadder, House etc all fall under this category. This also includes J-doramas and K-dramas.

vi. original fiction
Please do not create separate tags for original fiction series. They will all come under the general umbrella tag of "original fiction".

vii. graphic novels
For both traditional "superhero" titles like Batman, Superman, X-men and also more adult-themed graphic novels like "Lucifer", "100 Bullets", "Watchmen".

viii. crossovers
Regardless which fandom, any crossovers will fall under the umbrella category of "other: crossovers". Multiple tags may be used to identify which fandoms were in use.

e.g. Card Captor Sakura/Yuu-Gi-Oh! crossover
tags: [ 2008 ], animanga: card captor sakura, animanga: yuu-gi-oh!, other: crossovers


ix. video games
For both English and Japanese games, e.g. Halo, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid etc.

Well, one week is up. The main announcement I have to make tonight is obvious.

Slash/yaoi/same-gender fiction is now permitted.

Pursuant to this, the FAQ has been revised. Aside from that, 52_flavours now permits Real Person Fiction/Slash.

As explained in various posts earlier, the original founder of 52_flavours was not keen for same-gender fiction. When I took over the community, I decided to respect this choice of hers and to watch for further developments. Enough time has lapsed now and more importantly, the community has spoken and certainly it's time to make changes.

As for those who voted for no same-gender fiction, I hope you'll remain in the community and still contribute.

I will try to come up with the bonus themes soon. For now, go forth and write.

Just a reminder. I will keep the poll open for two more days - keeping it open for a week seems fair enough - and should be able to update the comm with a few more changes soon.

The results are there for all to see and barring any great sea change, we all know where this is headed. I will explain/comment further on that later but for now, suffice to say, you can start writing in preparation of that expected announcement? ^^

I should be studying but now that I'm on a roll, it's only fair that you know what are the changes that I'm looking into/will implement soon:

1 ) Tags
Adding stories to the memories of the community is no longer viable. Tags will be used in the future. I've not yet enabled members to create their own tags but once I come up with a system that is standardised, I will enable tagging by members.

2 ) Hall of Fame
Is there anybody who has completed all 52 themes for 2007 - 2008? Please leave a comment here, along with a link to a master list. The list need not be posted to 52_flavours but it must be a journal entry open to the public.

3 ) Bonus themes
There's still a few more weeks to the end of 2008 so I'll be posted a short list of bonus themes soon.

And just to reiterate, please respond to the poll and encourage others to do so. The "no slash/yaoi" fiction has long been a bugbear of members and non-members so I'd like to resolve it once and for all.

1 ) Do I need to claim a pairing/character/group from any particular series?
No. There are no claims required in this community. Feel free to write any character/pairing.

2 ) Are there any restrictions on source media?
No. We're game for anything - comics, graphics novels, animanga, movies, television etc.

3 ) Can I write original fiction?
Yes.

4 ) Can I insert original characters into my fics which are based on an established fandom?
Yes.

5 ) Can I write real person fiction (RPF) or Real Person Slash (RPS)?
Yes. Bandslash, football slash, etc etc etc. We're not objecting.

6 ) Can I combine multiple themes into one chapter?
No. However, you can use multiple themes as inspiration for different chapters of one overarching story.

7 ) Do the themes have to be written in order?
No. Write for whichever theme that inspires you at any given time.

On that note, the mods will not object if you use the same theme to write for different fandoms, though it would be preferable if you did not do so. There are 52 themes to choose from after all.

8 ) Do I have to finish all the themes?
No. It'd be great if you could (and we'll put you in our own mini Hall of Fame) but there is no need to do so.

9 ) I have other questions not addressed by the questions above.

I apologise for being the mod in absentia but grad school ate (and is still) eating me up. Either way, I intend to revamp and reboot this community in time for 2009 - that's how slow I am but please bear with me.
