This was Dahl at his best, the stories are designed for Young Adults, and they are interesting and informative at the same time. In fact from two of the stories you do get an insight into what made Roald Dahl Roald Dahl, and I would recommend this to anyone.

Having just looked this up on Amazon, I would have to say I am in agreement with the two reviewers on there. This book was trite and boring. The characters were unbelievable and the ‘twist’ was just downright silly. This book filled a few hours on a night when I couldn’t sleep, but I would not recommend it to anyone and this is one book I was glad to return to the library.

This is the first trilogy I have read where I can say that I found the final book to be the most disappointing (I know that I thought that Eclipse was the worst of the Twilight Series so far, but that isn’t a trilogy). The story started well, girl gets kidnapped by vampire and made his bride. Girl’s friend chases vampire, learns ancient prophecy from Dwarf as to how the vampire can be killed, fulfils property. As a twist gives vampire her heart in exchange for his, marries him. In the second book she realises that the vampire is still bound to the witch that made him, she hears second part of prophecy and goes off and fulfils that with many adventures along the way. Then in the third book she discovers more prophecy, fulfils that and then loses bloke because she has to finish saving the world.
The books were well written and I found the characters believable, but I did feel that they were perhaps a little formulaic for their genre.

This books is exactly what it says on the tin, a collection of short stories by various female Irish authors. It was light relief for reading on the train. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although some stories were better than others. I would read it again.

Another book that does exactly what it says on the tin, if you are interesting in what makes a serial killer a serial killer this books examines it. It is well written and informative and I was interested in the subject matter. Therefore, for me it was a good book.

Vampire romantic comedy. My favourite line; “So help me and then kill yourself”. I loved these books, they made me laugh out loud while reading them on the train and I have to say, that is the sign of a good book. Ok so they aren’t the great British or American Novel but they are funny and light and fluffy and fun. So I think I would read these again.

'Being aware of people, who for whatever reason find it difficult to read, I was only too pleased to write The Girl On The Platform.
I admit, I having difficulty understanding why anyone has difficulty reading, but that is because I admit to being a complete and utter bookworm. However, this was a quick and light read that kept me occupied for a train journey and I admire anything that gets more people to read.
Book 93/74
Queen of Babble
Meg Cabot

Paperback: 272 pages
Publisher: Pan Books (1 Dec 2006)

Ok I admit it, Meg Cabot is becoming a bit of an addiction for me, I really do love her stories and her humour and although they are young adult books, this one is more on the adult side and is not so far away that I don’t remember being that old. (the main character has just finished college [university]). I am looking forward to reading the next one. Anyone that can get into this much trouble in a remote villa in

Amazon Says
Top Mafia hit man, doting father - for 30 years, Richard 'the Ice Man' Kuklinski led a double life beyond anything ever seen on "The Sopranos", becoming one of the most notorious professional assassins in American history while hosting neighbourhood barbecues in suburban New Jersey. Kuklinski was Sammy 'the Bull' Gravano's partner in the killing of Paul Castellano at Sparks Steak House. John Gotti hired him to kill the neighbour who accidentally ran over his child. He was also intimately involved in the killing of Jimmy Hoffa. He conducted this sadistic business with cold-hearted intensity, never disappointing his customers. For an additional price, he would make his victims suffer. By his own estimate, he killed over 200 men, taking enormous pride in his cunning and the ferocity of his technique. Philip Carlo spent hundreds of hours with Kuklinski, his wife and his daughters, as well as with police and underworld sources. This research has resulted in an intimate and definitive portrait of a killer in the groundbreaking tradition of Peter Maas' bestselling biography of "Sammy the Bull", "Underboss", or Nicholas Pileggi's "Wiseguy".
I say
This book was leant to me by a friend, and because I am, I admit, obsessed with what goes on inside the head of people like this, I found the book fascinating. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in the psychology of things like this.
