#24 Maximum Ride The Final Warning by james Patterson
Genre: Young Adult, Sci-fi
Summary:
(from B&N) Fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride and the other members of "Flock"--Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman and Angel--are just like ordinary kids--only they have wings and can fly. It seems like a dream come true--except that they're still being hunted by new threats at every turn.
This time, the government wants to keep the Flock under observation, offering a safe haven and schooling in return. But after their incredible adventures in books 1-3, Max and Flock have grown to love freedom- -after all, haven't grown-ups always found a way to ruin their lives? After escaping the control of the feds, they are surprised to find themselves allied with a group of environmental scientists who just might be trustworthy. Besides, what enemy could find them in one of the remotest locations on earth--Antarctica--on an expedition studying the effects of global warming up close?

"Max,” Jeb said more softly, and I automatically went on guard. “Don’t you trust me?”
(...)I mentally reviewed possible responses: 1) Sardonic laughter (always good) 2) Rolled eyes and snort of disbelief 3) Sarcastic “You have got to be kidding me.”

Other Quotes:
“Have you guys been playing in toxic waste again?” Fang asked severely, putting his hands on his hips. Nudge giggled. “No.” “Been bitten by a radioactive spider?” Fang went on. “Struck by lightning? Drink a super-soldier serum?”
(...)his hand landed on Total. “You’re black.” “I prefer canine-American,” said Total.
“What if we don’t believe all that stuff?” I asked, and Melanie drew back and blinked. Had the file on me not mentioned my whole “uncooperative” thing?
I couldn’t believe he’d written a whole blog about Dr. Amazing and Her Quest to Save the World. I mean, excuse me, but who’s been saving the world for the past several months? That would be me. Do I get a blog entry? No.

Notes: In the series this is surely the book I liked the least. The story wasn’t particularly captivating and I was quite disappointed by the way the Max/Fang relationship was handed, most of all considering what happened in the end of the 3rd book.
#25 Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
Genre: Young Adult, Urban Fantasy
Genre: Young Adult, Urban Fantasy
Summary:
The Summer King knelt before her. "Is this what you freely choose, to risk the winter's chill?" She watched him -the boy she'd fallen in love with these past weeks. She'd never dreamed he was something other than human, but now his skin glowed as if flames flickered just under the surface, so strange and beautiful she couldn't look away. "It's what I want"
(from B&N) Rule #3: Don't stare at invisible faeries.
Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty—especially if they learn of her Sight—and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.
Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.
Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.
Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.
But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost—regardless of her plans or desires.
Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything.

Other Quotes (mostly about Aislin/Seth...cause I'm sappy that way...):
His blue-black hair fell over his face when he moved, like tiny arrows pointing to pronounced cheeckbones. "Starting to think you were going to bail on me." "Didn't know you were expecting me," she said in what she hoped was a casual voice. He gets sexier every day. "Not Expecting, but hoping. Always hoping"
She turned out the lights, crawled into bed, and pulled out her cell. Seth answered on the first ring. "Miss me alreadt?" "Maybe" (....) "Tell me a story" she whispered. He always made the bad things seem less awful. "What kind of story?" "One that'll make me have ggod dreams" He laughed then, low and sexy "Better give me a rating for that dream"
(....) Finally he said "Did I mention how sexy she was? She laughed. "She was so unbelievably beautiful that--" He paused and she heard the unmistakable screech as he opened his door "And this is the part where the rating changes"
After they hung up, Aislinn held the phone in her hand, still thinking about Seth. t would be a bad idea. A really, really bad idea...She smiled. He thinks I'm smart and sexy. She was still smiling when she fell asleep
he stood in his kitchen, watching him toy with the ring in his lip. It wasn't quite that he was biting it, but sucking it into his mouth. He did that when he was concentrating. It isn't sexy. He's not sexy. But he was, and she was staring at him like a fool. "wow" she whispered (.....)"Wow, huh?" His voice was low, husky. His chair creaked as he stood. His footsteps seemed strangely loud as he closed the couple yards between them. Then he was beside her. "I can work with wow"
"I told them he'd be able to get you to go out" Rianne folded her winnings and tucked the bills inro her blazer pocket. "Look at him" "He's right here, Ri" Carla murmured, shooting Keenan an apologetic look. "We've tried to teach her manners, but..." She shrugged "It's like housebreaking a dog. If we'd had her when she was still a puppy, maybe"

Notes: I really liked this book and the faeries’ world Melissa Marr described was quite fascinating.
Btw does anyone know some good faery-related books I could read in the future??
#26 Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal
Summary:
(from B&N) The mansion on top of Benson Hill has been empty and boarded up for years. But a new family has moved in. A family that never ventures out during the day. Who are these creepy people –– especially the handsome, dark, and elusive Alexander Sterling? Or rather, what are they? Could the town gossip actually be true? Are they vampires?
Raven, who secretly covets a vampire kiss, both at the risk of her own mortality and Alexander's loving trust, is dying to uncover the truth.
"Raven, what do you want to be when you grow up?" Mrs. Peevish asked, her green eyes staring through me. I said nothing. "An actress?" I shook my head. "A doctor?" "Nuh, uh," I said. "A flight attendant?" "Yuck!" I replied. "Then what?" she asked, annoyed. I thought for a moment. "I want to be…" "Yes?" "I want to be…a vampire!"
Notes: I liked it! Btw it’s just me or there are some resemblances between Raven/Alexander & Bella/Edward story?!
#27 Animal Instincts by Gena Showalter

Not even hunky millionaire Royce Powell, who's hired her to arrange his mother's surprise party. Even if he does make her purr like a kitten with one heated glance . . .

But if that's true, why is this incredibly eligible CEO currently taking applications for a wife? Despite herself, Naomi is tempted to fill one out. But can her inner tigress believe a man might change his stripes?
Ten Things You Shouldn't Say on a Date 1. You're wearing that? 2. Something smells funny. 3. Where's the Tylenol? 4. And to think, I first wanted to date your brother. 5. I have a confession to make… 6. My dad has a suit just like that. 7. That man is hot. Look at him. 8. My ex, may he rot in hell forever… 9. You're going to order that? Seriously? 10. You're how old?
Other Quotes:
I'm unleashing my inner Tigress. Unfortunately, I've kept her on a tight leash today. So far the score is not in my favor. Life 5. Tigress 2. Again, in my defense, let me say that Life is a mean, mean bitch.
His midnight brows winged in amusement. "Do I pass inspection?" That hard knot of embarrassment fell from my throat and into my stomach, obliterating all hint of tingling warmth. "I wasn't staring at you," I said, scouring my mind for a plausible explanation. "I was lost in thought about something completely unrelated to you." Genius, Naomi. You idiot.
(...)"Royce!" I snapped my fingers in front of his face. "You need to stop that." "What?" He paused. "Staring. It makes me uncomfortable." "Sorry," he grumbled, at last removing his gaze and directing it over my head. "Just for the record, I wasn't staring. I was thinking about something totally unrelated to you."
Instead of answering, he asked a question of his own. "What's that smell?" I froze. What? Did I really smell so distasteful he had only to lean in my direction to catch a putrid whiff of me? I stayed the urge to break his freaking nose for pointing out my stinkiness. He sniffed again. "I can't place it." "How bad is it?" I asked, my cheeks heating. "It's good. Some kind of flower." My first thought: Hurray! I don't stink. My second: Ohmygod!
"Either you don't like Chinese or you're pretending not to be hungry so you won't have to eat with me." His voice dropped to that husky whisper. His eyelids lowered to half-mast. "Which is it?" "I don't like Chinese?" I hadn't meant to phrase it as a question. "Then we can cook something here." I gulped back my panic. "I don't like home cooking, either. It upsets my stomach." His brows arched. "If I asked you to have drinks with me, you'd say… " "I don't drink. Alcohol makes me loopy." "I was referring to water." "I'm allergic. Besides, I have a ton of stuff to do." "Like what?" "Just stuff. Lots and lots of stuff."
"I'm not interested in getting involved with you or anyone else right now." Rotten, rotten lie. I wanted to get naked with him ASAP, and that was pretty involved, to my way of thinking. "I don't believe you," he said. Smart man.
"Get used to the idea of me kissing you, Naomi. Looks like it's inevitable." "Wanna bet?" my Tigress growled before I could stop her. Well, well, well. She'd finally decided to do something besides purr. Challenge gleamed in Royce's eyes. "You enjoy losing, Naomi?" "I wouldn't know," I said with bravado. "I've never lost." A wicked glint lit his eyes. "Well, sweetheart, I'll try to make your first experience as pleasurable as possible for you."
Leap out the window, my inner Tigress cried. You aren't ready to face such a powerful Tiger. I frowned. I thought a true Tigress never backed down from a fight. Don't you know anything? When she's in heat, she avoids everything male. Now run!
"I'll miss you while I'm gone." I gulped. I'd miss him, too. Horribly. He made me laugh, made me ache, made my hormones spike. He made me crazy, made me ache, made me feel so wonderfully alive. He confused me, made me ache, branded me, made me ache. Did I mention he made me ache?

Notes: Funny & sexy book about the love story between a I-gave-up-man-for-good party-planner and a too-sexy-for-my-own-good millionaire. What I liked most about it was the way the two of them constantly teased (in different ways) each other...(see the quotes if you want to know what I mean!)
#28 The Devil Inside by Jenna Black
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Summary:
Topeka, Kansas. Demon capital of the world. Not! Demons, the illegal ones at least, tend to like the biggest cities. More anonymity. More prey. But every once in a while, one would pop up in the most unlikely place. Like Topeka.
(from B&N) Possession. Murder. Mayhem. Let the games begin...
Exorcism isn’t a job, it’s a calling—and a curse. Just ask Morgan Kingsley, a woman who has a stronger aura than any Demon. Or so she thought. Now, in a pair of black leather pants and a kick-ass tattoo, Morgan is heading back to Philadelphia after a nasty little exorcism—and her life is about to be turned upside down…by the Demon that’s gotten inside her.
Not just any Demon. Six foot five inches of dark, delicious temptation, this one is to die for—that is, if he doesn’t get Morgan killed first. Because while some humans vilify Demons and others idolize them, Morgan’s Demon is leading a war of succession no human has ever imagined. For a woman trying to live a life, and hold on to the almost-perfect man, being possessed by a gorgeous rebel Demon will mean a wild ride of uninhibited thrills, shocking surprises, and pure, unadulterated terror. . .

Other Quotes:
“Oh for God’s sake, Morgan!” he snapped. “Are you checking me out to see if I have a hard-on from manhandling you?” Since that was exactly what I was doing, I couldn’t muster much righteous indignation.
“You were afraid I’d jump your bones if you didn’t dress like a bag lady?” he asked, the corners of his mouth twitching with humor. (...) I stuck my chin out. “You mean to tell me you don’t know you’ve been looking at me like I was Little Red Riding Hood and you were the Big Bad Wolf?”

Notes: It won’t end up as one of my fav books in the genre, the premise was very good but the story sort of slipped along the way, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. The book is more on the erotica side than the paranormal one and if you’re uncomfortable with scenes of sex between two men and mentions (pretty explicit) of S&M then this book it’s not for you.
#29 Wake by Lisa McMann
Genre: Young Adult, Sci-fi
Genre: Young Adult, Sci-fi
Summary:
Janie never picks truth. She’s a dare girl. That way, nobody gets inside. She can’t afford to let anyone inside. They might find out about her secret.
(from B&N) Not all dreams are sweet.
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can't tell anybody about what she does -- they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....
Janie never picks truth. She’s a dare girl. That way, nobody gets inside. She can’t afford to let anyone inside. They might find out about her secret.
Other Quotes:
“You can change your schedule. Or I can change mine. I’ll do whatever you want.” She looks at the uneaten pizza and sets her plate down. She is miserable. “Whatever I want,” he says. “Yes.” “I’m afraid you haven’t been privy to that dream yet.”
She finds it—Miss Stubin’s note. Reads it again. Dear Janie, Thank you for my dreams. From one catcher to another, Martha Stubin P.S. You have more power than you think. 11:36 p.m. What does it mean? 11:39 p.m. She still doesn’t know. 11:58 p.m. Nope.
They play truth or dare. But it’s all truth. For both of them.

Summary:
Parents had some kind of sin radar, Claire thought. They always called when you were in the middle of something you just knew they'd consider wrong. Or at least risky
(from B&N) Claire Danvers's college town may be run by vampires but a truce between the living and the dead made things relatively safe. For a while. And it's giving night school a whole new meaning.

Other Quotes:
She heard something halfway between a grunt and a sigh, and opened the door to find him dragging a dark gray, form-fitting shirt over his head. It looked very good on him. Not as good as the no-shirt thing, but she was trying hard not to think about that
"Perv."
He pointed to himself. "Male and eighteen. What's your point?"
Claire got up, walked to him, and put her arms around him from behind. She leaned against him, her head on his back, sighed. "I'm more worried about you," she said. "You and trouble ..."
"Yeah." She heard the smile in his voice. "We're like that."
But that quickly faded, and he frowned. "You're bleeding," he said. "What happened?"
Claire sighed and held up her wrist to show him the bandage. "Man, you would be so embarrassed if I said it was something else." Michael looked blank. "I'm a girl, Michael, it could have been all natural, you know. Tampons?"
Imagining the expression on Monica's face, Claire slowly stroked her fingers down the soft leather of the skirt. No. I can't.
And then she imagined Shane's face when he saw her.
Well. Maybe she could, after all.
