16. Unconditional Parenting by A Kohn

This book, unlike typical parenting books, asks parents to reconsider preconceived notions about discipline and love. Kohn painstakingly argues that all conditional/external methods of behavior modification work to teach children they earn love by actions. He provides some real examples with alternate interventions for parents to try. These are sparse though; its his theory that abounds. As a general rule, parenting and teaching books make the most impact when sound theory is followed by an equally large "real-world" section.
