ANY GIVEN DOOMSDAY by Lori Handeland (The Phoenix Chronicles, book 1)
urban fantasy
Excellent start to a brand new series! The villains of this series are the nephilim and the demon hunters are their halfbreed offspring they had with humans. My full review will be up later tonight on Otherwhere Book Reviews.
JINX by Meg Cabot
YA, romance
Jinx is actually a girl named Jean who got into some trouble back in Iowa so now she's staying with her aunt and uncle in Manhattan. She has quite the knack for being in the wrong place at the right time and subsequently saves Zach from being run over by a bike messenger only to take the injury herself. Of course there's an evil cousin who later convinces herself that she should be the only witch in the family and so sets out to ruin Jinx and steal her powers. This book has a lot in common with the movie "The Craft", but this is slightly less obnoxious than the movie.
SWALLOWING DARKNESS by Laurell K. Hamilton (Meredith Gentry, book 7)
urban fantasy, paranormal romance
I've seen the reviews for this book that say this is the best book she's put out in quite a few years and I only partially agree. The book was so full of action that I actually stopped caring towards the end. My brain was fatigued from trying to keep up with what was going on and the 20 - 40 people directly involved in each event. Why can't she pace her series better? There were three books of crap followed by one book, that I think, contained all the missing action scenes of those three books.
