FOUR HOUSE UNION
WELCOME
In the Harry Potter series written by JK Rowling, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry has four main houses into which students are sorted based on their personal traits. Four House Union is a community based upon the same sorting rituals, but we have combined the four houses of Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin to make new ones. The six new houses provide our applicants with a chance to be in a house that has two sets of traits rather than one. 4HU strongly encourages unity and fellowship of each and every house, and thereby promotes a strong sense of community.
In order to be sorted, one must read our rules and submit their application in our sorting community. If you are sorted into our community, we ask you to consider what a privilege it is to be a part of a community that stands so firmly for strength in unity and togetherness. Our mantra, which you should know well in becoming a member of this community, is "United we stand."

INFIRMARY
The purpose of the infirmary is to keep track of people and things involving the community. For your convenience, we have assembled an Official FAQ here for any questions you may have about the community. If you need to post a hiatus message, we ask that you do it here instead of your common room or the main community. You may also post any concerns or suggestions you have involving the community or any of our sub-communities. Also, this is the place to come if you are expelled for inactivity and wish to gain re-entry, or if you are in need of being re-sorted. So, in short: hiatus, concerns, re-entry and re-sorting. There are forms to fill out for each of the aforementioned reasons for posting. If you find any other reason, please post without a form and we will still tend to your problem.
Please note that if you are applying to be re-sorted or to re-enter, your reasons must be very good. We won't just re-sort you because you don't like the house you got sorted into. You must provide legitimate reasons why you feel your application was ill-sorted by using specific examples. Please post large entries under an lj-cut.
BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO THE COMMUNITY
1. Do not disrespect members or visitors. It's not nice.
2. When you post, please sign with your name and house name.
3. Please keep signature tags no larger than 300 by 200. It just gets things cluttered if you do it differently.
4. Please use the proper form concerning your topic when posting in the infirmary.
RULES
1. You must be 13 years of age or older to join; this is a LiveJournal standard that must be followed.
2. Everything must be friends-locked so random folks can't participate in the community or in the wrong common rooms.
3. Please type and write like you have a brain in your head. We don't expect you to get everything right or keep it all proper, but just don't do the TyP LyKe DiS thing. We'll kick you out. Seriously.
4. The Headmistress reserves the right to remove you from the community if she or numerous other members feel that you have violated rules or have harassed other members. The following are specific offenses that you absolutely will be removed for: inactivity for over a month without notification, spamming, blatant disregard of the rules, multiple off-topic posts, harassment of other members, unfriendly argumentativeness, fangirling too much or generally being obnoxious. If an offense is committed, you will be put on probation for a month, meaning you will not be able to participate in any community activities. If a second offense is committed, you will be expelled. If you are expelled, you may not return to the community at any time.
5. The only exception is for those who are expelled for inactivity, in which case you must post in the infirmary with your appeal to return to the community, stating the reasons why you were inactive and why you should be allowed to rejoin.
6. Post all large entries (text, images or otherwise) under an LJ cut. If you do not know how to do so, this link explains it.
7. If you are unable to vote properly each week and do not wish to be penalized, please post a notification of hiatus in the infirmary. NOTE: You get exactly two months on hiatus before you are removed from the community. You may gain re-entry after that, but you must apply for it here in the infirmary.
8. Any concerns involving the community can either be sent to the Headmistress via email or posted in the infirmary.
