The Official "I Got It!" Post

Totally ganked from [info]venturebrothers, here is a little "squee" thread where you can show off your brand new "4400" Season 3 DVD (and yourself enjoying it!)

If you're camera shy, take a photo of it with your cat, or out in your favorite place! Be creative! Have fun!

Let's share our joy that "The 4400" Season 3 is out on DVD!!! :D :D :D YAY!!! :)

Here's mine:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

And yes, I made that shirt...and I totally love it. :) *blush*

Thanks to [info]forblueskies7 for the Mac tip. I totally forgot about flipping it! I did it in Photoshop! :)

I ended up getting my copy at Walmart, because my Costco didn't have it. $29.96. Still a good deal. :)

ETA JEFF IS IN THE BLOOPER REEL!!!! Hee hee hee!!!! :D

The blooper reel itself is worth the price of the DVD alone!!! It's probably one of the best ones I've ever seen PLUS they used the blooper I was there for when Patrick says, "Have you seen Jordan Collier?" and then Billy is right there eating a sandwich, waiting for his cue. Hehehe. XD I also saw Patrick tackle Billy and say, "There you are!" then hug him onset too, which I thought was even more hilarious!

ETA 2

Full List of Extras:

- "The Architecture of Series Storytelling" - featurette
- "Power(s) Grid" - actors, writers & producers talking about the 4400's different powers and how they came up with them
- "TVFX" - the special effects of "The 4400"
- "Character Tree" - an interactive menu where the actors talk about their characters (Jeff is included!!!) :)
- "The 4400 Gag Reel" - farking hilarious! XD
- "Being Tom Baldwin" First Draft - PDF file of a first draft. I was giggling that we've probably seen some of this already! ;)

It's DVD Day

Just a reminder...  (Not that anyone reading this site doesn't know that already. :D )

I have to wait until the evening to pick mine up, but I've got a date with Costco later today.

Also:

Notice there's a new film at the official site.   We need to keep our eyes peeled because I have a feeling new pictures and other promotional material should start showing up there soon.

Edited to add the cool banner that [info]lily_lemonygrabbed. :D

Season 3 DVD deals :)

For anyone who's been *cough* annoyed at amazon's idea "pre-order" (i.e. get the item 5 days after everyone else who didn't buy it at amazon already has it), below is a list of the best B&M (brick and mortar) deals for "The 4400 - Season 3" boxset.

This is for the United States. If anyone wants to post for other countries, feel free. :)

Prices in your area may vary :)

Your best bet: Costco for $26.99

If you don't have a Costco membership, they will let you have a "one day" pass to get in and shop. Ask at the Customer Service desk. I just talked to a very nice lady at Costco who told me the price may be even cheaper at the store, as I'm going by the online price and they don't give prices over the phone...oddly.

I'm hoping it will be this good a deal! :)

Second best bet:

Best Buy for $29.99

Surprisingly Walmart (when I phoned) has it listed for $36.99, but I'd check your local one just in case. :)

Prices will be updated as I find out more info. If anyone finds a cheaper price, please post it and I'll edit this post! :)

Hope this helps! I'm off to Costco first thing Tuesday morning and then have a little marathon!!! :D

DVD Review at DVDtalk

DVDtalk has a nice long review of season 3, and the upcoming DVD release....  (Which for those who are counting, is one week from today!  Whoo Hoo!)

The review is here, and it's very detailed and basically reviews the entire series that's been broadcast to date.

I especially enjoyed the description of the Extras, which this year will finally include a Gag Reel!  And I'm also really looking forward to hearing Joel, Jacqui, Scott and Ira's audio commentaries.

Here are the details about the Extras:

Extras: This time, there were five audio commentaries with leads Joel Gretsch and Jacqueline McKenzie on a couple of them joined by creator Scott Peters and writer Ira Steven Behr giving his solo act on others. To me, each of them had something to offer but Ira's insights as a writer were definitely the most effective as a means to explore some of the subtext of the themes the show shoots for. If you want to clear up some of the issues that have circulated online about the show, start with his commentary tracks and you won't go wrong. There was also a blooper reel that contained missed queues, flubbed lines, and mistakes made during multiple takes of some scenes, a DVD-ROM script of the first draft for the Being Tom Baldwin episode, a Character Tree that allows a newcomer to the show to catch up by checking out the major players of the series, a TVFX feature on the special effects, a super powers grid that gave a heads up of the different abilities the 4400 have been given, and a moderate length feature called The Architecture of Series Storytelling that provided a look into the way the show is scripted by those involved (and the usual two thin-pak style cases were enclosed in the cardboard case). Each of these was interesting and added value for me, though only the architecture and character tree truly answered any lingering questions I had from missing the first season.

More news on the Season 3 DVDs

They are apparently going to be released on May 8, with 4 featurettes, a gag reel (yay!), introduction by Scott Peters (I think) and six audio commentaries (which we know will at least feature Jacqui, Joel, Scott, Ira & Craig, based on earlier posts). That's pretty cool that at least half of the episodes will have commentaries. Bring on the hot tub! :)

Season 3 DVD info tidbit

I know some of you are curious (I know I am!) about the DVD release date for Season 3, so here is a bit of info from my source:

"No official release date yet, which makes me think they're going to come out around the same time as last year. If I had to guess, I'd say March. But they may even wait until May, so that hype for the DVD can lend attention to our season premiere in June.

The DVD commentary was only completed last week. Ira and Craig recorded commentary for a couple episodes, including the season finale Fifty-Fifty. Back in October Joel, Jacqui, and our director-producer Scott Peters did commentary for two more episodes (the ones Scott himself directed)."

So we'll have to wait a little longer! But hey, lots of commentaries and probably some awesome extras, so it will be worth the wait! :D

DVD News from Jacqui

Jacqui McKenzie has updated her website with some news about the upcoming Season 3 DVD set, which they are currently working on.

She says:

We recorded the season 3 DVD commentary of The 4400 this last week- Joel and Scott Peters and myself- and we had a blast. We worked on the episodes Scott directed: Gone Pt2 and The Ballad of Kevin and Tess. I tell you what, Joel and I could barely get a word in edgeways! Scott could talk underwater and his commentary is the best! I reckon he's done it before, just quietly... I think Ira and Craig will be doing the commentary on some of the other episodes, I'll keep you posted...

I am glad they are already working on those DVD's and hope this means we'll get those released earlier this year then May! Jacqui also mentions that she and Joel are taking a trip to London next week to visit a con. (Specifically, the London Expo, see post below.) It sounds like a great time.

Major Season 2 DVD News

A date for the DVD has finally been released, along with the cover art:

See tvshowsondvd.com

Here is what the cover will look like.  It looks good except for the lack of Shawn.  (Why leave such a pretty face off the cover? ;) )
