I just saw Obama's acceptance speech for the democratic nomination.

Damn, the guy is a great speaker. I don't think I've heard anyone that good in my lifetime. (Of course for every Martin Luther King Jr, JFK, and FDR level of speaker for the forces of good, there's an Adolph Hitler.)

His goals seem good. I'm not sure how he'll accomplish this, but I wasn't certain how GWB could tear apart the stability of the country either. I mean, in truth, the powers of the president are very limited.

Could they have put MORE flags around him? (Yeah, I'm cynical.)

But OMG he mentioned gay rights, immigration reform, and family values in one speech. Right on. And THEN he quotes scripture?

I'm also going to say this now, btw:
Politics is not the act of getting what you want. Politics is the act of compromising and making deals to benefit as many people as possible. So sometimes, in the name of politics, senators and governors and even Presidents need to make these deals in order to get people benefits.

At first glance a good call on his part. He will pull some of those Hilary supporters now.

Exactly the ones that were never really supporters of the Democratic party to begin with. Women who vote only to see a woman in office, regardless of whether she is fit to hold the office will LOVE this candidate.

I mean sure she's a first term Governor of a state with fewer residents than Austin.

But in all fairness she was a small town (5000 pop.) mayor before that.

And on city council too.

If John McCain dies in office (which at age 72 isn't entirely out of the question) we'll have a president in charge of a war on terror, a floundering economy and an oil crisis who's last job was as mayor of a city of 5000 people.

But to listen to the GOP, we've already won the war on terror, the economy problem is all in our heads (whiners) and if by oil crisis, you mean huge boom in the oil industry...well...yeah...we've got one of those.

Normally Apple’s excellent with their tech support, but my call to 1-800-APL-CARE today has me flummoxed.

I replaced my MacBook Pro’s battery under Apple’s battery exchange program last September. Since then, I’ve racked up 96 charging cycles, and my battery is now at a max capacity of 4528 mAh. That’s 82% of its maximum. Two days ago it was at 4589 mAh - 83% of maximum. My battery life sucks and the battery’s not right.

I called Apple today to replace it. Apparently they have an arbitrary number that must be hit in order to do so. I need to have under 300 charging cycles (check) and be under 80% of my battery capacity. The guy refused to do anything for me at this point.

I said, “So I’m supposed to call you back in a week when this battery’s low enough for you to take action?” and the answer was yes.

They could have made a customer happy this week about an issue that obviously isn’t going to solve itself, or they could have just told me to run along and play. They chose poorly.

Perhaps I should try a Genius Bar. They’re generally very helpful. Unlike tech support dude.
