29th-Aug-2008 03:15 pm - BFF
I laid down with Gage for a (much needed) nap, when we woke up he flung his arm across me and said "you a best friend mommy"
AW! made my day.
(I have never heard him use that word before)
He then told me that I am a happy birthday cake.

be jealous ;)
29th-Aug-2008 04:58 pm - I got Friday off instead of Monday on Labor Day Weekend...
And McLovin is curled up on my lap and Orchard is sleeping on the bookshelf.

It's really cute.

It's nice to have a day to just relax.

That's all. :)

29th-Aug-2008 12:31 pm - Kitty birthday!

  • 11:35 @blondiekate A baby for a car? Dude, I'm sure the IVP can scrounge up a car. Tell her you'll take the offer! #
  • 13:29 Mmm... went to Noodles for lunch #
  • 16:05 @liljimmi I had been thinking about doing that this weekend, too. Thought we should not do it within a couple days' sight of a workday. #

29th-Aug-2008 10:59 am - Sarah Palin
This is a brilliant, brilliant move from the McCain campaign. She's the perfect Pied Piper to take away the Hillary supporters.

And despite our disagreements on politics, Palin is one hell of a respectable politician. It's an obviously manipulative move, but you couldn't have picked a better token.

I'm still an undecided voter. My friends list seems to think anyone who is Undecided is the AntiChrist, but could it be that both candidates are great and I want to pick the one I think is the best?

The debates will probably solidify my vote. I will be watching each one intently.

No matter where your politicial affiliations lie, this just got really interesting.

29th-Aug-2008 08:39 am - Raising the white flag
I have been feeling like crap all week. But I persevered. I dragged my ass out of bed, snorted nasal spray, took pain killers, went to work, and did my job.

This morning, I woke up and had lost my voice. That's going to make it hard to do 80% of my job, the telephone part.

So today I give up. I'm staying home. I will rest. Maybe I will also try to straighten a little around the house. [info]apeliotes is coming to visit tonight--huzzah!--and with all the crap-feeling, I haven't been able to properly prepare.

28th-Aug-2008 11:18 pm - David Duchovny enters rehab
For sex addiction.

Guess the rumors of his infidelity I've heard from sources are true. Sads. :(

28th-Aug-2008 10:45 pm - STAB.
My mom sent me a package with sentimental objects and some financial value via USPS to my Brooklyn home address.

On 8/23 I received a slip that says “Sorry we missed you” and that the item is at the post office.

USPS Delivery Confirmation says the item was delivered to my address at 12:32 PM on 8/23. When I went to the Post Office (and waited in line for an hour and a half), the delivery clerk said it was delivered to my address. just called USPS delivery confirmation and they said "Your item was delivered at 12:32 PM on 8/23." Yet there is no package in sight, my roomie hasn’t seen a package, and she also says our building super doesn’t sign for packages.

Where could it be?

I FEEL STABBY. Also, I'm never dealing with USPS again. They are the scum of the Earth.
28th-Aug-2008 01:14 pm - ZOOperstars
THE HTML IS KILLING ME!!! Give me a second. All fixed!

Most of the time the campy ridiculous acts on America's Got Talent just drive me nutters. But ZOOperstars makes me LOL from the insanity. It's probably comes from the same place that bases why I am smitten for my Homer.

And then finally, there is George the Giant who in the previous episodes was pretty alright in a Circus Freak kind of way. Unfortunately no one has uploaded the full clip from last night's episode of George the Giant and his epic FAIL. His interview showed him being carted off to the ER during rehearsals and how he was risking his life this time around. Also missing from the very end is stone faced shock from the judges and the almost absolute silence from the audience because of the epic FAIL.

28th-Aug-2008 03:03 pm - SORRY!
I haven't been on in forever because my computer decided to die on me! We will be getting a new one soon, but for now I am at the library. Just a really quick update...
Luke is potty trained except at night! YAY
Emma had her first Birthday July 7
Emma is sooo close to walking.
I got a job...then quit lol long story, tell ya later!
Josh is getting a vesectomy Friday...booo!
BUT!! He has agreed to try to get pregnant now. Since it takes about 3 months from the surgery to be sterile we have a small chance of it happening, so hopefully we will get pregnant in that time. I have agreed to not get too upset if it doesn't happen since I am at least getting a small chance when before he was completely against it.

So that is the major stuff for now. I will try to get back down here to update more sometime. But hopefully it won't be to long before we get our new computer and have internet back. :)
28th-Aug-2008 03:43 pm - Set of 4 Felt Green Onions / Scallions (seconds)
I made a ton of felt green onions for the IVP swap and these four didn't quite make the cut. They are perfectly presentable, but since I made too many, these are the ones that got put in the not-quite-perfect pile.

*The top one is too skinny.
*The second one and fourth one have some white thread visible on the green.
*The third one is missing its little roots. Heck, you don't want to eat those anyway. You can pretend that that one is already cleaned.

These are made with Ecospun® acrylic felt (100% post consumer recycled plastic).

They probably do not taste as good as they look, so I would suggest they be for children 3+ or those who not actually eat their play food.

All four for $5. This includes shipping to the US.

You can get them at my etsy shop here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=14693744

You can also see all of the patterns that I've been completing and uploading - pita with veggies and hummus, kiwi and eggplant here: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6135468
28th-Aug-2008 11:14 am - physical efforts
The weather is rather hot right now, and I've been walking the girls back and forth from Juliet's school each day. In case anyone wasn't suffering through my whining last year, it's 2.1 miles one way from where we are living to Juliet's school and there is no bus.

I think I'm going to borrow the strollersize book to really make these walks even more useful.

In other mildly related news, Homer's insane work weeks plus overtime are really making a difference in his size. The physical effort to dig and sift holes and gosh knows what else he is doing in his archaeology work is causing his body to possibly lose weight or at minimum lose size. Clothing that hasn't fit him in years is now fitting, plus his shorts and pants will fall off when he walks if he's not wearing a belt.
28th-Aug-2008 12:40 pm - I went to the dentist today.
So i have this tooth with a huge cavity (i've always had horrible teeth since i was little) and so today i had an appointment to get it filled.
I get there and they tell me that there's a 40% chance that i'd have to have a root canal, and that we could either take the chance today and fill it if they can, or clean it out, and put a temp in until i can get the canal.
Because this tooth is starting to bother me, i took the chance and told them to get started.
They gave me a shot of Novacaine, and waited 10 minutes. Nothing. i only got really bad jitters.
Gave me a shot of Lidocaine, and my jaw went numb. 10 minutes pass.
Then one more shot of Lidocaine, and my lips and tounge went numb. 10 minutes pass again.
I guess the lips becoming numb was their cue to start, so the doctor said he was going to drill a little hole and to tell him if i felt anything. so he started and i thought "Okay self, this isnt so bad. maybe it was all in my... OUCHHHHHHHHH!!!"

So yeah. Needless to say i didnt get my tooth done today.
They said the limit is 6 shots, and if they couldnt get it in 3, then it's pointless trying to keep going.
This is the SECOND time they've had problems finding the right nerve. I've never had this problem until these last few years.
The doctor was embarrassed that he didnt do it right, and told me maybe if i eat breakfast next time (WTF?) and promised that it wouldnt happen again. So after 2 wasted hours, I left shaking my head and with an appointment for Tuesday.

Will they knock me out if i ask them? i mean seriously. If i might have to have a root canal done anyways, wouldnt it be less of a hassel? LOL

Why me.

I'm off! DragonCon here I come! Look for me on the Cigar Deck at the Hyatt.

Will have Galen with us too, so if not on the cigar deck (don't want to expose the podling to that kind of airborn gunk) watch for the little ball of energy bouncing off the walls.
