30_shinyfics, a nearly-all encompassing Firefly/Serenity writing community, inspired by 1sentence and 5sentence_fics in particular and many of the themed writing communities in general.
The point here is to make a claim of just about any sort from the 'Verse, pick a prompt set and write either one sentence, 5 sentences or a ficlet (100-1000 words) for each prompt. The deadline for completion is three months from when your claim is approved, but if you need an extension or to drop your claim, just ask on the extensions/dropped claims post. You may have up to two claims at one time.
How to Play
Pick a claim from the 'Verse. This can be a character, pairing, a certain group of characters or general. Anything goes: canon, fanon, AU, crossovers, original characters, etc. Decide which challenge you want to do (one sentence, five sentences or ficlets). No two people can have the same claim AND challenge, so check the claims list to see if the combination you want is available.
Make a comment on the claiming post to stake your claim. Please include the following in your comment:
Join the community and wait to be approved. I'm unrestricting posting access, so please wait to be approved to post and don't abuse this!
Choose a prompt set and make an entry with your prompt table in your journal (this isn't necessary if you will be posting a one sentence claim or if you post all of your five sentence fics in one post). As you complete your fics, make each prompt link to the post with the corresponding fic/sentences.
Write your stuff. One sentence claims should be posted all together, five sentence claims can be posted in sets of no less than 5, and ficlets should be posted seperately. You can either post them directly to the community, or include a link to your journal/writing journal/outside site.
When posting, use this form as an intro, and place all writings behind an LJ-cut.
Please include all appropriate tags in your post. See the tag list for usable tags. When writing pairings, please also include a tag for each individual character. For threesomes or more, tag the characters and each possible pairing (ie Mal/Inara/Simon would be tagged with each character then Inara/Mal, Inara/Simon and Mal/Simon). If you're writing a gen 'crew' fic, just use the 'crew' tag. Also title your post with your character(s) claim, challenge and prompt table number.
When you have completed your claim, make a comment to the completed claims post letting us know what your claim was with a link to your finished prompt table/sentences.
