Filming today
I just thought I'd share this with you all: 30 Rock was actually filming at 30 Rock today, and my best friend - who went to the NBC store just to get 30 Rock t-shirts - watched them for a few hours. I stayed on the phone with her for over an hour, and the following occurred:

  • Alec and Tina filmed a scene where Tina was wearing a purple sweater and not wearing her glasses. It seemed like Alec was running to catch up to her, and then they spoke to each other.

  • My friend watched Alec eat a cracker (she said he did this in a very dignified, "Jack Donaghy" way), and then he walked past her. I heard him speak to her and other fans who were gathered around. It was pretty awesome.

  • She and the other onlookers kept being moved because they were changing scenes and such. At one point, Tracy showed up and gave Alec a bear hug. He then rehearsed a scene with Alec and Tina. My friend got a picture of the three of them rehearsing.

  • I asked her to describe everything that was happening - she said that Tina was "very smiley" and that Alec and Tina seemed to get along and were smiling and laughing between scenes. Tina also smiled and waved to the fans who were watching them.

  • When my friend left, Tina was eating a salad. (No post about 30 Rock is complete with a few mentions of food, right?)

My friend is on vacation right now, but I'm going to force her to upload her pictures to flickr when she gets back, so I'll let you guys know about that.

I'm pretty jealous of your friend, and by pretty jealous I mean really jealous, haha. That's so cool.

I know! I'm jealous too! The only thing that makes me feel better is that she is a big fan of the show, so she knew how it was awesome to see them filming. I guess there was another woman in the crowd who said something like, "Oh, there's Alec Baldwin and some actress whose name I can't remember," and Laura was so upset, because this woman had a better view than she did. She was all, "A woman who doesn't know Tina Fey's name should not have a better view than me. She should not even BE HERE."

Aw, I'm glad she got to see it then since she's a big fan of the show. Oh, I would have been so frustrated at that lady who didn't know who Tina was.

I know! My friend is totally not about the internet, but I am going to hound her to put them up ASAP. As we were on the phone, I was all, "I AM POSTING ABOUT THIS ON MY LJ" and "MY FACEBOOK STATUS SAYS YOU ARE LOOKING AT TINA FEY." It was pretty fun.

I know, right? And during the whole conversation, I was all, "I AM TELLING THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS AS WE SPEAK." If my friend was on LJ, she would totally be in this community, so at least it happened to someone who is a big fan of the show.

Yeah, she had NO IDEA that they would be filming on location; she just went there to get stuff from the NBC store. I was at the NBC store last year RIGHT before their 30 Rock stuff came in, so I told her she needed to go because I wanted a t-shirt. (She wanted stuff too, but I told her to get me something. . .because I'm a pushy friend when it comes to these important matters, ha.)

I know, right? She wasn't close enough to hear what they said in the scene she watched, but Jack back in NY? Jack chasing after Liz? It can only be awesome!

I have this serious desire for my favorite TV couples to actually get along in real life, so I was on the phone saying stuff like, "Are Tina and Alec talking to each other? Are they smiling? Do they look happy? Do they look like they like each other?" My friend is a hard core fan of the show, but I don't know if she's exactly a Jack/Liz fan, so I probably freaked her out a bit when I was all, "LESS DISCUSSION OF JONATHAN AT THE CRAFT SERVICE TABLE, MORE OF BALDWIN/FEY INTERACTION. IN DETAIL."

One of the biggest things I miss is the ginormous Jack/Liz flail fests after every single episode. Yes Jack chasing Liz is sending my mind into various faraway places now.

I would probably have the same reaction in your position (which I don't think I would ever be, not in the same country and all) but happy!interaction between my ships and the actors who portray them always make me feel warm, fuzzy and spazzy on the inside.

Ha. Her name is Laura, and she doesn't have an LJ. I'm sorry. It's pretty amazing that she has a Facebook account. I'm going make sure she uploads the pictures, though, because I want to share them with you guys. Also, while we were on the phone, I told her I was typing everything she said onto my LJ, so she knows I have told THE INTERWEB about her experience.

I used to change trains everyday at Rockafeller center for work, I always wanted to run into someone there. I did meet Frank/Judah but that was in The Village.

Well, I've never randomly run into ANYONE famous. Any time I've met a famous person, it's been like, after a concert or a show. I am NOT good around famous people, though; I met Stephanie March last year at the Talk Radio stage door, and I was a total nutcase. I just flat out told her that I loved her. (You know how Liz is when she first meets Rosemary? THAT WAS ME.)

It's a good thing the only shows they film here are Breaking Bad and In Plain Sight, because I cannot handle being around real-live famous people. Like, Judah seems like he'd be super laid-back and cool, but if I ran into him, I'd probably hyperventilate and have to break out my inhaler.

I love Breaking Bad to a sick degree lol.

Judah was really laid back and cool. He lives in Queens also (where I was living at the time) and we exchanged contact info and had drinks together ect. When I first spotted him I was like "Oh. My. God, Do you have any idea how much I love you?" And honestly I was WAY more star struck meeting him then I was later in the night when I met Robin Williams and Dave Chapelle lol.

Oh, I would be WAY more excited about meeting someone from 30 Rock than meeting someone like Robin Williams! It's all relative.

The premise of Breaking Bad disturbs me, because one of my close friends was diagnosed with cancer around the time it started. I told myself I couldn't watch a show about it. I caught a few minutes of it after Mad Men one night, and my first thought was "Wow, that looks like my neighborhood." My second was, "I think that IS my neighborhood!" I don't know if I've ever seen them filming, though. I only know that In Plain Sight filmed across the street from my building because I got a notice on my door about it - only it hadn't even premiered yet, so I had no idea what it was. I tried to watch a few episodes just for the novelty, but it was SO BAD I had to stop.

Oh, I really needed a flail-inducing post today, so thank you for this! ajdkshdjs that's awesome. Jack's back in NYC and that makes me a very happy camper.

(FWIW, if I ever saw Tina in the flesh I would probably yell out "You are my heroine - and I totally want to inject you and listen to jazz too, kthxbye." Or, y'know, just freeze in awe.)

Yep, there is no doubt in my mind that if I EVER met Tina, I would start sputtering about how I want to inject her and listen to jazz. The only other celebrity that I like as much as Tina is Stephanie March, and when I her last summer, I was a total mess. I just blubbered I JUST LOVE YOU SO MUCH while she was signing my Talk Radio ticket, then I wandered off in a daze. It's a miracle I wasn't hit by a cab or something. If I ever encountered Tina (or Alec!), I know I would be the same way.

And yes - I am so happy Jack is back in NYC and having a moment with Liz. SO HAPPY.

That's awesome! When I was on vacation in NYC about two weeks ago and visited Rockefeller Center, I was thinking about how amazing it would be if they were filming 30 Rock while I was there, but, sadly, they were not. That's very exciting for your friend, though!

That's so cool! If I were given the chance to meet a 30 Rock cast member, Alec Baldwin would totally be at the top of my list.. But then again, I would wanna meet Tina Fey too to get tips on breaking into the comedy business. *dies* Such a pickle.
