The Masamune blade shimmer against the moon’s rays, plunging deeply inside the monster. Coming down with a loud cry, earth shaking, the great Behemoth fell to its death. Zack stared up at the great General, amazed by the man’s swordsmanship. The rumors of the great hero were far from bullshit. He was a GOD. Two strikes of his sword were all he had needed to take down the large beast.
Blade stained in blood, Sephiroth turned to Zack. “Are you alright?” he asked, placing his Masamune away.
Zack nodded shifting up on his feet. “Uh…yeah... thanks. That was amazing.”
Sephiroth glanced around the wide open wooden area. “Why were you not focus? You need to take this mission seriously.”
The second class frowned in shame. Sephiroth was right. His mind had been clouded about Angeal. Where had he gone? Why did he leave him? So many unanswered questions badgered him. He couldn’t focus on anything else, and it was driving him crazy.
”I…umm…” Zack rubbed the back of his head. He really didn’t have an answer he could give the great General. Saying simply that he couldn’t think of anyone but Angeal was inexcusable. Angeal…,so many terrible things were being said about his mentor by the other SOLDIERs.
He’s gone traitor.
He doesn’t’ care about you Zack.
He’s a bad man.
Zack wasn’t going to stop believing Angeal had his reasons to leave him. But reason or not, it was still painful…
His love for Angeal was suffocating him. Nothing else was mattering. No one had made him feel this way before. He had been trouble before over a friend, but Angeal… every moment of his day was constantly reflecting on the man.
Zack looked up at the night sky, the stars twinkled brightly along the full moon.
Though he didn’t mind being in love with Angeal, apart of him wished he had kept his emotional feelings towards his mentor as just that, his teacher. Love was a puzzling thing, it can come in all forms. He could have loved the man like a older brother, maybe things wouldn’t have gotten so out of control that way. He knew he still would have been upset, but perhaps his enthusiasm would have remained, training hard and keeping his mind on nothing else but to make it to first class SOLDIER.

Legs shifted restlessly in the back truck as Zack waited for his mentor to show up. He wondered what sort of men this Angeal was, hearing nothing but praise from the other ranks. Such a great warrior they had told him. So prideful.
“Where is he?” Zack brushed a hand through his hair, opening the doors of the truck and slipped out. The cool crisp night air felt good against his face from being suffocated in the back of the heated vehicle for so long. He glanced at his watch. 11:00 pm. He had been waiting for an hour. Did Angeal forget about him?
”Angeal?” Zack squinted his eyes, seeing the shadowy form approaching him.
“You must be Zack Fair,” the deep voice greeted, walking up to the boy.
Zack nodded as he looked up at the rather large man, seeing a huge sword behind his back. “So cool…” he whispered, frozen in his stare. So this was the great Angeal. He felt honored to have such a respectable man as his teacher.
The teenager stood, just staring up at the great man trance by the blade. He had never seen such a wicked looking sword before. The thing was huge!
Angeal quirked an eyebrow, looking down at the boy who was staring up at him with widen eyes of amazement. “Son, you alright,” he asked, wondering what the second class was staring at in such astonishment. It was like the boy’s body had suddenly turned to stone. Not even his eyes were blinking.
Zack shook his head, quickly snapping himself out of his daze. He smiled up at Angeal. “Sorry sir. Just your sword is so damn cool.”
Angeal grinned with great pride as he withdrew his massive sword he had gotten from his mother. He had just met the boy and already thought the kid was adorable. So much like he was that age when he remembered first receiving the Buster sword. He held the sword up, the blade reflecting slightly in the moon. “This here is my pride.”
Zack twisted the side of his lip, puzzled. “Your pride?”
Angeal nodded placing the sword behind his back. “I won’t get into detail about it right now. I’m to train you for your next upcoming mission.”
“Yes sir.” Zack did a few squats, readying himself for his training. He couldn’t wait to finally get into the battle field and kick some ass. The last few months had been nothing but classes of paperwork. The boring stuff. He wanted to be a hero and paperwork wasn’t the way to that goal. “I’m ready to give it my all!”
Angeal folded his arms, staring down at his student. His new student certainly had a lot of energy. “Good, I’m glad you’re enthusiastic. That will help you. And no need to call me sir, Angeal is just fine.”
Zack rubbed the back of his head. Why did a highly rank man prefer to be called by his name by such a lower class? “Seriously? You don’t mind being called Angeal.”
Angeal turned on his heel and started to walk towards the truck. “No. Now come Zack, we have much training to do. I will teach you the ways of being a SOLDIER if you are willing to listen.”
Zack nodded his head quickly. “I am! I’m gonna be a hero,” the boy’s eyes brightened up to those words as he followed Angeal. “That’s my dream.”
