[HOUSE RULES]

This is plain, simple and painless, I promise.

As members of this community, you agree to follow these rules:

1. You are allowed two lines per entry. No more, no less. Two lines is two full, short sentences, with two end punctuations (THIS DOES NOT MEAN FOUR SHORT SENTENCES ON TWO LINES, OR ONE VERY LONG SENTENCE BROKEN INTO TWO LINES WITH A LINE BREAK OR A COMMA) and a line break after each sentence. A line break is your best friend. USE IT.

Additionally, run-on sentences are still considered by most to be cheating, but because we're not the grammar nazis here, you will have to deal only with your own grammar conscience.


Brevity is best. Aim only to fill view page. That is not the main community page, but the comments page.


2. Two posts per day; per person.

3. Any and all subjects. With that said, it doesn't mean that we're a dumping ground. Articulation and meaningfulness goes a long way. Think before you post.

4. Speaking of subjects, subject lines should be 1-7 words long. All entries should have a subject line for quick referencing later on. Yes, when you type a full line in the subject it is cheating. This will be enforced: 8 words in your subject line will not be allowed any more than 21 would be.

5. RICH TEXT FORMAT IS NOT ALLOWED! Text should be 12 point font and a single color. Don't try to cheat with smaller fonts. We won't think you're cute.

6. No advertising/linking other communities or websites. This is grounds for banning.

7. I have no qualms about removing anyone and any entries. Failure to comply will result in the deletion of the entry and repeated offenders will be permanently removed from the community.

8. Please play nice and have fun.

-My post was deleted even though it was two lines! What gives?
If your post was deleted, it may have broken any one of the above rules. If you believe that it was formatted correctly, perhaps your subject line was too long, someone noticed that you'd posted three times in one day, and so on.

However, one of the mods most likely left a comment on the entry that said something like "Hi, this post breaks x rule because y. Please edit it withing z amount of time (anywhere between half an hour to a day), or I will have to delete it. Thanks!" It may be helpful to turn on email notifications for comments: not only will you be notified if/when a comment such as this one is left, but you will also have the body of the entry, in case you didn't get to edit it before deletion.

-I don't think that our posts should have to be two sentences.
That is your prerogative, and you are welcome to post whatever sorts of entry you'd like--in your own journal. This community was meant to challenge you to think of new ways to express yourself. Life rarely fits neatly into our puny human comprehension, but we find ways to do it anyway. If you feel that you have to get something off of your chest, but can't narrow it down into two sentences, you are welcome to summarize it, and include a link to your personal journal in an entry here. As long as it follows the rules.
