    24-Hour GAM 2005
I'll be at Austin Books in Austin, Texas, trying my hand for the first time at making 24 pages in 24 hours for 24 Hour Comics Day.

Anyone else? Where will you be?

Not a failure YET. Not yet.
Well, so what if my 24-hour comic is split up into about 14 days? I've done two hours each day since saturday and I continue to work on it. Trying to work fast is limiting the amount of fussing and noodling I can do over each individual panel. I've wound up using a freer layout style, less regimented, a lot like Hiroaki Samura's style. More to say about that, but it's probaly only me that's interested.

It's hard to find time ot do it between family, regular pages, and planning ahead for the content that will be running when my baby is born. Yeesh. ANyways, I've only got two pages fdone, but the flow of the sequence is in my head, and some of the dialogue is written. It's a dialogue-light sequence, though.

Anyways, it's fun, and I'm learning alot, and I'm enjoying the energy given to my pencils by the time constraint.

    Wuss <-----
Well, around 1:30-2:00, somewhere in there, I finished Page 12, and went to bed, and slept till 11:30. I know, I know, I could of kept going and gotten a few more pages in. I've done tons of allnighters in the past year for school. But I needed the sleep, and after 12 pages of comics, I was worn out.

"One thing to remember: a 24 hour comic is any comic you create when facing the 24 hour comics challenge. This is true even if it's less than 24 pages or even if you kept working on it after 24 hours were over. This isn't a contest, it's an exercise in creativity. Any time you complete a story, it's an achievement!"

I'm going in for my attempt to finish the Comic starting at One today, making 2 12 hour periods to finish 24 pages of comics. I needed that "recovery period". I'll try to do the full 24 hours next year.

    BANZAI!

Should I post this for Monday's Jeepers update people?

    O_o ack...
9 hours in, 8 pages done, need to take a 30 minute break to escape marker fumes. I think the story/characters I took on were a bit more elaborate then I should of. Ah well. My fingers were getting crampy too. Now to gte 9 finished, and try to get pages 10-16 done before I take a sleep, and try to get 8 more pages done before 1:00 tommorrow. Woot!

I'm just about done over here. Andrew's finished. I'm going to write the last page, and then I'm going to eat something. Dude.

    Progress Report

Well, I've made some intriguing progress but I haven't drawn a thing.  Instead, I've been sculpting primitive funerary reliefs in an epoxy compound.  The idea is to use the finished reliefs for making plaster molds later on.

I realize that none of this has anything to do with comic books, and yet I still feel rather accomplished.

How about the rest of you?

    O_O
6 hours in, 6 pages done [well, part of 6th page done] . It just occured to me I should of started this around 9 AM or so, but what the hey. I've got it all written, so it's like a factory line. And I took wayyy too many breaks. I suppose I'll be one of those "12 hours here, sleep, 12 hours there". Neil Gaiman did that. So don't pick. Mush, Mush, I say!

Ten hours to go. Ten pages left. Brain foggy. Want sleep. Napped an hour ago. Still want sleep. Andrew's inking. I'm doing a complete page at a time. We're watching Looney Tunes.

    So... Umm....
When I read the rules on Scott "24 Hour OverRuler" McCloud's website, I took it that your 24 hour comic bascially starts whenever you decide it does [in my case, that'd be around 12 o'clock since I just got up...so, 12 today till 12 tommorrow].

    Is that okay?

And here I am, an hour late because Andrew and I took a nap that ran an eensy bit long. We're groggy and already out of our skulls. He's in the bathroom trying to wake up. I'm wearing an extra-large Punisher T-shirt and no pants. My contribution to Comics thus far consists of three words in my notebook, scribbled out. I smell greatness.

    And so it begins...
...and I feel like shit.  Head pounding and stomach churning, I'm going to bed.  I'll do my bit during the latter half of the 24 hours.
