works in progress

I don’t think I’ve actually ever posted before, merely left comments. Hello! *waves*

Because I find it a pain the behind, I'm not going to post pics of my current things on needles.  Instead, I am going to provide you with a lovely link to my flickr photostream. That way you can browse at your own leisure.

Works In Progress

Descriptions of things:
First up is Quant- It is a headband-thing done in entrelac.
Second- Socks! I'm working my way through my first one.  So far, so good! (even though the yarn is rather ugly knitted up)
Third- Otto the Polar Bear- well- this one is more like a kodiak because he's brown.  This is from the same designer as Elijah the Elephant. Otto's snout needs a little work to look less like an aardvark and he needs his ears.
Fourth- Irish Hiking Scarf- just a scarf with a cable pattern. I love the red and glossiness of this yarn.
Fifth- I might have shared this before- Yoga Mat Bag.  Not much has been accomplished  for several weeks on this.

I picked up some yarn two days ago for the Lucy In the Sky cardigan (light green) , and I ordered some  yarn for this Thermal (in violet).   I want to make my mom something for her birthday.  She doesn't really know what she wants, and since we're in separate states right now, it's difficult for me to help her look around at patterns and yarns. Her birthday is in July, so I guess I'll have about a month after I return Home to find a pattern, find yarn and make it. I'd like to do a sweater or cardigan, but it is her birthday, so if she wants something like socks or a rug, no problem.   I'm also trying to plan ahead for my great-grandmother's birthday (Thanksgiving)- I want to find a lace shawl or scarf pattern and I know that lace will take me a really long time because I can't do other things while counting stitches (no tv, no audiobooks, no people...)

i Know clapotis from knitty isn't quite what people think of when they think of lace, but it knits up really fast and pretty (my grandmother loved the one I made her for her birthday this year) and I found that once I got into the main body section, I hardly had to count and could actually have people around or watch tv while knitting it. I'm definitely making more for the future. :)

I'm currently knitting wisp from knitty for my mom. it's a very very easy pattern. i'm doubling it in width and length to make it a shawl.

The Yarn Harlot's Snowdrop Shawl has a small repeat that's easy to get the hang of and makes darling little flowers =)

Ooh, your Quant is beautiful! I love the color of the yarn you picked out. The "polar" bear looks like he's going to be adorable, you better post pictures when he's finished!
