Why is it when I want to be entertained, nobody's online doing anything, and when I'm not around, it seems that's when everybody wants to talk! Frustrating, dudes...
...and now I'm going to bed, so I'm sure that's when everyone's gonna show up...
*sigh*
So, life. For those of you who read this and don't know already, Adam got a job teaching in Virginia a couple weeks ago. He's moving down next weekend. Oh, and we went ring shopping last week. I'm not expecting anything too soon (as in not before Christmas) but it's a step in a direction I've been looking forward to for a really long time. *squee*
Placeholders for those drabble requests, mostly for my own incentive to actually get stuff done for once:
+ Oswald/Gwendolyn for Muun
+ Auron and Iroh: BUDDYCOPS for WR
+ Vaan & Penelo (most likely of the sky pirate hijinks variety) for Qwi
+ Suki & Toph badass lady bonding for Mel
+ general Avatar hijinks for Lysh
And hey, feel free to request more!
( in summation: bitch moan nobody appreciates me )
I made myself a new wallpaper for the first time in about forever. Inspired by the fact that I've been binging on D.Gray-Man and UM HI LAVI YOU'RE KIND OF GREAT? marry me pls.
Firstly! There are a few people who already know about this... but, well, most people don't because I've been keeping it mostly to myself. I wasn't sure I was going to go through with it at all and I didn't want to chicken out at the last minute having told everyone... but I GOT A TATTOO!
SO much love goes out to the girls I bugged about the design and the placing and how much it hurts and everything else for months on end, but I finally went through with it a couple of days ago.
( PICTURES! And the story behind it.... )
There was more to that. But I think I just wrote more than a fic's worth of words. Safe to say, it was painful and, looking back, utterly hilarious. I'm really glad I went with it.
Non-tattoo related stuff
In other news... I have somehow acquired myself this thing called a Life. Otherwise known as an ARR ELL. I'm completely confused as to how it happened, but I have apparently found myself with texts and calls trying to get me to go out and do stuff more. It's very strange.
It's mostly because of this student internship program thing that I applied for. It's going to last 20 days...and I had the orientation for it yesterday. Apparently, I look responsible because everyone seems to happily make me all responsible-like. Like being the "leader" of my group...and I've apparently been nominated for the president of this year's program by someone. Which is kind of funny - and I doubt I'll get it - but it's interesting to contemplate all the same when you think about my reclusiveness.
So, Life landed in my lap - and I'm kind of pleased with how it's all going. I'm feeling quite hopeful and, dangerous as that is, I'm optimistic that it's going to all go okay. Better than I was scared of anyway. Which, almost anything's better than I was afraid of but it's the feeling that counts!
So yes. I'm doing good. Actually, I'm doing really, really good - and I'm happy.
In a few days, you might be hearing me complain all about how evil and awful and tiring everything is. Most likely. Don't rule it out :P But for now, things have gone well!

A small mob of us went to see the new X-Files movie, I Want to Believe, last night. I went in with basically no expectations; I was really looking forward to seeing Mulder and Scully back on screen together, but given how deeply bitter I am about the way the show went, I refused to get my hopes up too high. (Which didn't keep me from fidgeting and being excited, if that makes any sense. I adore Mulder and Scully so much that even the idea of seeing them again made me ridiculously happy.) It was a little funny, though, because the friends I went with included two who are very into David Duchovny, while I'm a much bigger fan of Gillian Anderson. (We also had
bosonator, who's now seen...the two episodes we showed him, and about six episodes from season one. He was very into it, though. ^_^)
[Time out here to pass on a link I got from both
coastal_spirit and
musesfool: "Scully Have I Loved", an excellent essay/retrospective. I read this before seeing the movie, and it also made me ridiculously happy.]
This isn't a unified review, just some assorted thoughts. First, non-spoilery impressions: ( under their own cut, in case people don't want to hear anything about it before going. Or, you know, just don't care. Also, a bit of commenting about the end of the series )
( spoilers--mostly the bits I loved most )
All in all, I'm not sure how good the movie actually was, but it gave me what I wanted out of it. And mostly, it made me miss my show, while reminding me of why I loved it so much.
Thursday:met up with Cat in the afternoon, and watched the 1960's movie to the live action Batman TV series, which hilarious. Then her dad drove up to Wolftrap where we watch the NSO perform I'm Not the Messiah, a musical adaptation of Monty Python's Life of Brian, and Eric Iddel was there preforming. It was awesome and funny.
Friday: Watched the documentry Dangerous Days, about the making of the movie Blade Runner, was very interesting. Also watched the first half of the season finale of Doctor Who's 4th season, awesome.

...well, my natural hair color is anyway, and it don't look half bad...*giggle*
Still have to go to work, though... *sigh*

...though why I should be dubious is beyond me...
I got up a bit earlier for work this morning, but what do I do? I'm wasting spending time on LJ and colouring my hair, so I'll probably be almost as late as I've been for the past couple days anyway! HA!
...but I'll be back in my natural color [note the use of both spellings this post on purpose...bwahaha...] in about half an hour! YAY! LOL

What if you can get a sky bison mount.
Or if it's post-series. Maybe you can get quests from Aang. "HELLO ADVENTURER. Appa is hungry! Bring me 10 bushels of hay kthx."
And every vendor is the cabbage merchant.
