Did you make a new year's resolution to lose some weight? Here's the place to join in for dieting support and structure! Of course, you can join at any time, not just in January of 2006.
Here we can give and receive advice, post triumphs and setbacks, trade recipes and exercise tips, and much, much more. No matter what program you're on, be it a structured one like Atkins or an unstructured one like "eat less and exercise more," all are welcome here.
We are about HEALTHY weight loss. ED and ANA folks are encouraged to find better communities for discussing those tactics.
Some acronyms you might see here are:
SW = starting weight
CW = current weight
STG = short term goal
LTG = long term goal
NSV = non-scale victory
Acronyms we don't want to see, please:
ED = eating disorder
EDNOS = eating disorder, not otherwise specified
ANA = anorexia or anorexic
There are only two rules in this community.
1) Be supportive of yourself and others.
2) Post a weekly weigh in.
The community weigh in date is Sunday. A typical format might be:
SW = 180
LTG = 150
STG = 160
CW = 161
Pounds lost: 19
One more pound until I make my short term goal!
If you don't want to post your actual weight, feel free to post pounds lost or gained instead.
Members are encouraged to look for Non-Scale Victories where they can find them! These would be pants fitting more loosely, being able to walk for longer without getting winded, or spontaneous compliments from friends and family. Our goal is to be healthier, to look more fit, and to enjoy our bodies. These goals are not always met by the scale! You can lose fat without seeing a change in the number of pounds you weigh.
