| SVU #5: A Married Woman |
[Aug. 8th, 2008|10:44 am] |
I started this (my first recap!) awhile ago, but couldn't get into it. Sorry if it is a little dull! I've also never posted in a community that uses tags, so it may take me a little bit to work that out. I thought I'd fill in the gap at the beginning of SVU with #5. Basically, if you've read #4 and #6, you know what goes on this one...nothing new or exciting is revealed, and it doesn't even get interesting or relevant until the end.

The twins look kind of ugly. Although we do get the lovely Liz shoulder pat!

| SVU # 20: Here Comes the Bride |
[Apr. 26th, 2008|12:47 pm] |
I bring to you the end of the 3-part pregnancy arc, glazed with the resolution of the doughnut shop plot. Also Alice acts like a crazy momzilla. And another glaring continuity error! Can you handle it?

Cover. I keep thinking college Steven looks like Michael from "Melrose Place." And I might be grasping at straws, but Billie kinda sorta might resemble Sydney. Also, horrible photoshopping job....you can actually see the border where the happy couple were plopped in front of this Sears background.

| SVU #18: Billie's Secret or "Music Kills Relationships" |
[Apr. 4th, 2008|01:49 am] |
This is the first time I’ve tried this so bear with me through all the crappy transitions. I should also explain that I’m studying music, so I was A LOT more personally invested in this story than I should be. But you’ll see. First, the cover. This scene actually takes place in the book, sort of. You can’t tell, but Billie is wearing what appears to be an engagement ring on her left hand. Also, when it actually happened in-book, Steven was studying. Oh and I had outfits (yes, plural) VERY similar to the one Billie is wearing.

| Sweet Valley University #2 Love, Lies, and Jessica Wakefield |
[Mar. 1st, 2008|04:53 pm] |
This story might benefit from the A plot, B plot, C plot format to keep it all straight but there are so many plots and a lot of them intertwine. And I am recapping as I read. So we’ll just plow straight through.
Cover: or
( Liz and Jess are both trainwrecks )
And I just got back from the used bookstore and got a metric butt-load of Sweet Valley Junior High and Senior Year and a few SVH books. So watch out for Sweet Valley Overload in the coming days. :) |

Sweet Valley University #4: Anything for Love

This is the fourth book in the SVU series. I have recapped #1: College Girls and #6: The Love of Her Life already. Why don’t I do them in order if I have the first eight, you ask? To this I say, bah! Stop asking stupid questions and check out the awesome flannel shirt Mike is sporting on the cover. Oh flannel, you were so hot in 1994. I also love how Nina is trying to pretend she doesn’t know these people. Wise move, Nina. They crazy!
( Jessica gets married! ... to Mike, d’oh! )
That's it. Happy New Year everyone. In 2008, resolve not to date violent, alcoholic mechanics or racist cult leaders. In fact, when a guy asks you out you should think "Would a Wakefield Twin date this person?" and if the answer is "yes" then you should say "no." |

Okay, so when I was younger I was all about the Liz/Todd OTP but as soon as SVU came along, I threw Todd under the bus for Tom Watts. That's right, L/(other)T was my OTP. I'm not proud. Especially when I learned from daniellafromage's recap that Tom kinda turned out to be a dick. But whatever. I didn't read that far into the the series.
Sweet Valley University #6: The Love of Her Life

The cover shows a very toothy Elizabeth in a horrid top hugging Tom. Tom kinda reminds me of Jason from Power Rangers (Hey, I just admitted to the Liz/Tom OTP, the shame can't get much greater at making a Power Rangers reference, can it?).
( The book opens with Jessica, Mike, Steven, Billie the Girl and SHOOTING! Fun! )
( But the heart of the story is Elizabeth, Tom Watts, Crazy William, Crazy Celine, and the Racist Secret Society! )
( Meanwhile, Todd refuses to take a hint. )
( While End/Alex )( and Winston also have minor sub-plots ) |

| Sweet Valley University #8: Home for Christmas |

I'm recapping this one because it was requested in the last post. We have a whole request thread for that purpose here. Go post if there's one you really want, and also go read it to see if you might have any of the books people are looking for!
Sweet Valley University #8: Home for Christmas

Can someone tell me who these people are supposed to be on the cover? I mean, I can tell the twins because they're on every cover. I think the two on the far left are supposed to be Bryan and Nina... except they're not really in this book. And who are these other people? Steven? Billie? Bruce? Lila? Tom? Todd? Alex? Who!? Splainy!
( All I want for Christmas is a total lack of continuity and a BIG fist fight! ) |

Sweet Valley University #7: Good-bye to Love
I'm sure you can guess why I picked to recap this one. This is the one when Lila, my girl, comes home!
On a shallow note, am I the only one who thinks the twins used on the cover of the SVU books are slightly funny looking? Not ugly, just... not quite right? Maybe it's the funny glasses.
( We open with Lila! ) |

In case you couldn’t tell, I’m totally bored at my parents’ house this weekend, voraciously reading Sweet Valley novels to pass the time. This is the first of the SVU (isn’t it odd how that means Special Victims Unit to some people?) novels. I was so excited when it came out. I was convinced this was what college was going to be like. What a loser I was.
This one was really hard to recap because there are more characters (a lot of them new) and a lot of exposition in this book. Also, SVU was full of all kinds of drama. In this book alone there are no fewer than two psychos. In fact you could argue there were more than two! There is sex! Attempted rape! Racism! Parties! Very little going to class! It’s everything actual college isn’t!
