1x2 ficlet...

"Duo, position?"
"Don't know, Heero. It's too confusing."
"Stay in contact, Duo. I might be able to talk you through it."
"I doubt it. Do you even know your position?"
" -_-'"
"At least you have the supplies, Heero."
"Status?"
"Fading fast."
"Hold on, baby, I'll find you, somehow."
"There's too many people, Heero... too many ways to go. Who the hell thought up this rat maze? He must have been an A-1 Oz psycho. Damn! This is the third time I've ended up at the same place!"
"Describe your location, Duo?"
"Paper towels... detergents. Yours?"
"Shoes, kitchen goods."
"In the same place?"
"Oddly, yes. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to their layout."
(Would the two lost Gundam pilots, please report to the front of the Walmart.)
"Hey, Heero! That sounded like Hilde!"
"It did.... Where's the front of the store?"
"Hmmm..... I don't know... maybe if we follow the wall around?"
"Good idea... Where's the wall?"
"Uhm...."

family trauma
My 17 year old nephew was in a serious car accident around midnight tonight, so I will not be able to go to Nacogdoches to see Heather and Xander after all. It's been a scary night, and my nephew Justin isn't out of the woods yet. An SUV ran a red light and hit his Honda Accord only a block from his home as he was leaving the school stadium after their first game of the year. His 15 year old brother was with him, but unhurt. He called my sister on the phone screaming that Justin was hurt, and initially the ambulance couldn't even get him out of the car. Luckily he has no broken bones or internal injuries, but there is bleeding on his brain, and the doctors aren't sure what will happen until the next 72 hours pass.

Please pray for Justin and our family. He is an amazing kid, a gifted musician, and is the nicest, gentlest guy you could ever meet. I saw him born and want him to have a long, happy life.

I'm going to try and finish editing ITM before we switch computers tomorrow.

I got an email from Jane, a friend from treatment.  She hasnt been doing so well and is experiencing the worst of what an ed can do to you.  I feel so bad for her.  But I'm glad we got in contact again, I miss her.

Ugh

I worked durring the day yesterday and Mom wanted me to be home when she got home because she wanted to talk.  I was going to just say screw it and go to Tracie's, but Haley told me that Mom told her the same thing, so I figured I shouldnt just leave Haley to the dogs, so I hung out and waited for the talk.  As suspected, the talk was pretty much Mom repeating herself fifty times about the same argument from the prevous night.  Haley kept trying to knock some sense into her but she wouldnt listen.  I got upset and hid under the blanket until Mom said "Well if you have nothing left to say, Stephaney, you can go."  So I left.

Tracie took me to her house and I met both her parents.  I had sorta met her mom before but never her dad - only heard his voice.  He surprised me - I expected a big guy with tattoos.  What I met was a skinny little short man with hair and a beard like santa clause.  Not so scary.  Anyway, we hung out and watched TV for a little bit before going to her room and ordering pizza and watching Ratatouille.  It was a cute movie.

Then we were talking about how I'm going to the gym a lot lately but I dont have an ipod, so she pretty much just gave me her old one lol.  I had to buy earphones for it, and I have to learn how to work the software, but it will be nice not to have to borrow Haley's ipod when I go to the gym.

So we cuddled and stuff and I spent the night at her house.

She took me to work this morning and I had a really busy day - ended up with 10 dogs and 7 add ons.  Pretty damn good for a friday.  Around 1030 I got a call from my grandpa on my cell but I couldnt pick up because I was at work... I was stressed so bad all day because he rarely calls me and I was SO scared it was about Louie dying or something.  I didnt listen to it until the end of the day because I knew that if that was the case, I wouldnt be able to continue working.  So I listened to it when I got off and thank god... he was only calling to invite me and my sisters to his Memorial Day bbq.  I about passed out with relief.

Tracie took a lunch break and took me home after stopping at the bank.  I got home and saw the new computer is here.  So I have a project for my day off tomorrow.  So much for a week to process, a week to build, several weeks to ship, eh Dell? lol  Anyway, I transfered funds when I got home and went online and BOUGHT MY GROOMING KIT!! :D  I'm so excited.  It should be here in 8 to 10 business days.  I CANT WAIT!! :D

Back and better...getting there
I am back at school so I should be around a little more frequently.

My dad is finally back home.... kind of.  He is in a hospital in Salt Lake instead of half way across the world. He also looks better.  I picked him up from the airport and he could barely make it from the wheelchair to the seat in the car. I then saw him the next day and he looked so much better.  So he is getting better.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I blame Sunhawk.

Starts as a 6x2, but Heero wins his Duo in the end. *Grins*

Angst galore, blackmail, some abuse, bad/crazy Milliardo, tough Duo, sweet, protective Heero.

A new record!
I saw three movies last night and actually enjoyed all of them. This is something of a record for me.

Paprika. OMG. This was just amazing. The animation was beautiful and the story was surreal, confusing, and open to interpretation -- just how I like it. =D I definitely want (and need) to see it again. Other than Perfect Blue, I haven't seen any of Satoshi Kon's other works (Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paranoia Agent), although I've been meaning to (especially Paranoia Agent). So seeing Paprika has definitely gotten me motivated. I also need to find my Perfect Blue DVD and watch that over as well. It's been... OMG, almost 10 years since I saw it?!

Dark City (director's cut). Several people have recommended this to me and I did enjoy this movie quite a bit. Even Jennifer Connelly didn't bother me enough to really pull me out of it. Surprisingly, Keifer Sutherland's heavy-breathing, halted-speech psychiatrist annoyed me most. I'm not sure if I felt it was overacting -- or whether it suited the atmosphere of the movie or what, but I do know that it was a little too much for me. But the ATMOSPHERE! Was lovely! And kind of what I've been looking for in a book recently. So my only gripe with this is the ending. I was somewhat disappointed (though not surprised) with the end. I read in the wiki article that the initial ending was supposed to have been bleak, and how I would have preferred that! If you would like to know more specifics, I would be happy to tell you in comments.

Adaptation. I'm really surprised that I ended up liking this one; I thought I'd be bored, but it was definitely interesting and captivating. The end was not unexpected as well, but it was just so amusing and ridiculous -- in that way of playful ridiculousness, not stupid ridiculousness. I was pretty impressed with Nicholas Cage, as well -- it's not like he's the most talented actor out there, but it's nice to see him doing well in non-action roles occasionally. =D (Though the role that made me like him -- and this is purely for fangirlish reasons -- was as Castor Troy in Face/Off.)

Research and annoying results
So, I am still working on my final paper about fan identities and processes of learning. While on the one hand I read some very interesting texts and books (try "Fans, Bloggers and Gamers" by Henry Jenkins), there are still some very irritating papers.

I understand, why people, especially academic writers, would like to differentiate between different kinds of identities and group identities, but to put Star Trek fans into one category with campari drinkers and nike shoe wearers is beyond me. Okay, I see, where this was supposed to go (something like, it's a group, which shares an interest for something, blah blah), but really. To be a Star Trek fan requires far more than being a campari drinker. Have you ever seen campari drinkers discuss about the emotional depth and characterisation of their drink? No? Well, then I am relieved.

I am not a Star Trek fan myself, but I still feel offended by this categorisation. o_O

Anime: Tenshi na Konamaiki

*head desks* TAT My entry... is gone... *sighs* I was typing a quick review about this series when suddenly my window got stuck. ;_; Fine! >_<

Title: Tenshi na Konamaiki (Cheeky Angel)
Overall Plot:
Amatsuka Megumi is a 15th-year-old highschool student everyone admires/adores/worships/whatever (boys and girls alike). However, she isn't just a pretty, weak-looking, rich ojou-sama, in fact, in the past she used to be a he (actually, it's kind of unclear whether Megumi is really a guy or a girl). Which explains why Megumi uses "ore" to address herself often, why she prides herself to know only man pride, why she doesn't get scared of perverts in dark alleys etcetera. Megumi's wish got him in trouble when he asked the fairy  jester Pierrot, who had offered to grant Megumi a wish, to become the "man of men"; Megumi turned into "woman of women" instead.
With Miki, Megumi's best friend/childhood friend, and some tag-alongs (Genzo, Fujiki, Yasuda and later on Kobayashi), they try to find out how to reverse the spell (actually, there isn't much magic involved in my opinion).

Even my eyebrows hurt. I want to go to bed, but the children keep getting up and down, especially with the mosquito planes buzzing low to spray all the standing water. If you aren't aware of our traditional mosquito air force, it's a bunch of very old planes that have often been known to be flown by crazy war vets. I have spent my life watching their daredevil antics in these huge bellied planes, as they fly dangerously low to protect us against those nasty mosquitos. I have also been the butt of their pranks, as well. While driving my tiny car down 41, one day, very, very early in the mroning, one 'strafed' me, since I was the only one on the road. Getting a cloud of pesticide and the paint nearly taken off your roof, by one of those low flying planes, unexpectedly, will scare the piss out of you, I can tell you.

Hm, wild tom cat is jumping up to the window to 'attack' Alex. Since it's five feet off the ground, wihout a ledge, I can't really see how he's doing this. All I can hear is the thump when he hits the window and Alex's growl after. I really need to go to bed....

How bad my memory is...

Jon:How old are you?
Me:Uhm, don't know.
Jon:What year was Sean born?
Me:Eh, don't know.
Jon:Janice?
Me:Hmmm, don't know.
Jon:How old am I?
Me:Not a clue.
Jon:I just had my birthday. How long ago was that?
Me: Uhhhhhhhhh, no clue.
Jon:did you work last night?
Me: Yeeeeeees, yes.
Jon:Before that, what day did you work?
Me:Uh. *thinking hard* Not sure.
Jon:How long have we lived here?
Me:Don't know.
Jon:How long have we been married?
Me:Don't know.

I'm really surpised that I manage to function. Well, at least work knows enough not to ask me when something happened.

My friend Heather, who I love like a sister, had a little boy today. She was induced and still managed natural childbirth. She is completely wonderful and stubborn and amazing.

I hope her son takes after her, except for his father's sense of humor. His name is Xander, in honor of her sister Zandra who passed away last year.

Go to DG's journal for a blow by blow of the event - she was the coach. I don't think I could have managed it without crying the whole time, so I am impressed by her as well. http://godess-jessie.livejournal.com/

I am going to see them this weekend, come storm or not!
