Shannon, Annie and a friend

Shannon: Shannon smiles, wearing a spring top. It was warm at the barn so she hadn't had to bundle Jay up. She bounces him on her hip, talking to her friends as she watches her daughter-in-law and son talk to Jamie's friends.

Annie: Annie grins, walking over to Shannon, "Want me to take him?"

Shannon: "I've got my Jaybird." She smiles. "Are you having a nice time?"

Annie: She nods, "Hot out here."

Shannon: "I know. Jay's showing everyone his beads." She grins as the boy thrusts them at his mother.

Annie: "Those are beautiful, baby." She kisses his hand, then his face.

Shannon: "He's so smart." She makes the boy laugh. "Yes you are."

Bethany: Bethany strolls over, a Bloody Mary in hand. "Shannon, who is this beautiful child?"

Annie: "Hello." Annie grins to her.

Shannon: "This is my grandson Jay." She smiles when Jay offers the woman his beads.

Bethany: "Why thank you." She doesn't notice Annie. "Jamie brought his son down? How long is he going to stay?"

Annie: "Until Monday." She sighs, noticing the woman won't look at her.

Bethany: "Excuse me?" She glances at Annie.

Annie: "Hello, I'm Jamie's wife. Baby's mother."

Shannon: Shannon nods. "This is Jamie's wife Annie." She pauses. "I thought you guys were going to stay until Tuesday."

Annie: "Wednesday, actually. I was confused." She looks to the woman, "How do you do?"

Bethany: "Nice to meet you." She looks the girl over, she looked familiar. "I'm Bethany Long."

Annie: "Annie Sanders."

Bethany: She nods, trying to place where she knew the girl. "Where did you go to school?"

Annie: "Harvard."

Bethany: "For high school? St. Paul's? McGill? Is that where you met Jamie?"

Annie: "No, I met Jamie in Washington. We moved to New Hampshire. That's where I'm originally from."

Bethany: She makes a face. "New Hampshire?"

Annie: She nods, sighing, "The air is better there."

Bethany: "It's not here." She looks at Shannon.

Shannon: Shannon smiles. "Annie's got wonderful family there. And they come home often."

Annie: She nods.

Bethany: "I see." She looks at the baby. "I guess the red hair is yours?"

Annie: She nods, "Yes." She smiles, "Family thing."

Bethany: She nods. "Are you Catholic?"

Shannon: Shannon sighs, wiping some drool from Jay. "Bethany."

Annie: She smiles, nodding, "It's okay. My grandfather was going to be a priest."

Bethany: "I guess he didn't."

Annie: She shakes her head, "He met my grandmother."

Bethany: "I see." She sniffs.

Shannon: Shannon glances at Bethany. "They are wonderful. We met them."

Annie: "Everyone has." She says with a laugh, smiling.

Bethany: "Who are they?"

Annie: "Jed and Abigail Bartlet." She nods a little.

Shannon: Shannon nods, enthralled with her grandson.

Bethany: "You're Annie Westin?"

Annie: "Bartlet-Westin. Yes, Ma'am."

Bethany: She sniffs. "I see. Are you calling this child Bartlet-Westin-Sanders?"

Shannon: Shannon gives Jay a cookie.

Annie: "Just Sanders." She smiles, "But he knows what he is."

Bethany: "I see. Do you know what you are?"

Annie: "Of course. What's that supposed to mean?"

Bethany: She sips her drink.

Shannon: "Now Bethany."

Annie: She sighs, glancing to Shannon, "It's nearly his nap time."

Shannon: "We aren't going to go watch the parade?" She looks at Annie.

Bethany: Bethany sighs, looking at them. "I need to find Samantha." She turns, walking off.

Annie: "Now we are. How do you get such bitchy friends?"

Shannon: She sighs. "Come on." She moves Jay to her other hip as she walks towards the street. "They mean well."

Annie: "Hardly." She sighs.

Shannon: "They thought Jamie would marry a nice girl from here."

Annie: "There are other places besides here."

Shannon: "They don't see it that way." She sighs.

Annie: "Maybe they should start before they marry their cousin again."

Shannon: "Annie, just ignore them." She gives Jay another cookie. "Tell Mommy." He grunts excitedly.

Annie: "That isn't the point though."

Shannon: "Annie, they aren't going to change. I adore you, James adores you, Jamie really loves you."

Annie: "Next time they ask me, they'll need a new nose."

Shannon: She sighs. "I'm sorry."

Annie: She nods, "That's okay."

Shannon: "They just." She sighs, crossing the street with Jay as they go towards the barricades.

Annie: "Maybe you need new friends."

Shannon: "I have you and Jay. I'm fine." She dances with the boy who claps at all the noise and people.

Annie: "Not all the time you don't." She smiles, watching things.

Shannon: "You could move here."

Annie: "No, I can't."

Shannon: "Why not?"

Annie: "Our home is in New Hampshire."

Shannon: She sighs. "I realize that."

Annie: "So we aren't going to move here."

Shannon: "I see."

Annie: "We're here during the summer."

Shannon: "Which I appreciate."

Annie: She nods.

Shannon: She continues bouncing with the boy. "Are you liking this?" The boy seemed fine with all the noise.
