Okay folks, I have a random question/plea for help. I'm going back to Japan for vacation in April and one of my goals is to see Taichi perform. But I feel a bit silly because I can't for the life of me figure out how one goes about getting tickets for a taishu engeki performance, and I can't really figure out the schedule on his website either. So, a couple questions: I understand he mostly performs in Asakusa when he's not traveling...is the schedule on his website just a schedule of special performances or does it include regular performances in Asakusa too? Assuming I can figure out his schedule and he's going to be in Asakusa while I'm there, how does one get tickets for taishu engeki? Do you have to get them in advance or can you just show up at the theater and get tickets (like at a movie theater in the USA)?

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! :D

After a great deal of procrastination, I finally gave the community a decent layout. It's sort of a modified version of another taichi layout of mine... but its used for RP and I swear like only maybe five people in the world have seen it -- and as far as modifications go, this one was unkind and took just as long (if not longer) than a new one from scratch. ^^;; It still has a few kinks, but I'll live with them. I call a truce. I like how it looks enough.

Also, it doesn't look terrific in IE; I use firefox. Other browsers? Tell me.

Oh, and the mailman came yesterday and brought me presents ♥ -- scans forthcoming.

A whole freaking LOT of scans.

Hey everyone -- Just in case anyone is curious and hasn't found this yet, I THINK I've just stumbled across news of a third Taichi photobook coming out next month. There's a link to it on the information page on his website, and this is the link to the page on Amazon.jp (translated to English here).

Well, I got my copy of the new book today...really beautiful. Much smaller than the other one, but very much worth it. And for those of us who read Japanese well (i.e. not me *sob*), about two-thirds of the book contains interviews and and lots of captioned photos. Hmm, fresh motivation to study my kanji more...

I haven't had time to translate anything yet, but I was browsing Amazon JP and noticed that they finally have his second photobook up! It's about 20 pages shorter than the first one and a good ten dollars cheaper. You can find it here in Japanese, or here in English.

Happy shopping! XD

Downloads: Syabake and Anmitsu-hime )

Also, for those unaware, Saotome appeared in this year's Santaku. You can find videos on YouTube here and here. I've been trying to locate a download, but all I've found so far is on Clubbox, and I can't use that. :/

It seems there will be a new photobook coming out early next month. There are two versions, one for the fan club (which comes with a set of postcards) and one for everyone else. The latter is not listed on Amazon JP and Yesasia isn't working for me at the moment, but I think the only place to buy the book is through his website. They do seem to accept money orders, although I don't know whether or not that includes IPMOs or not. I'll certainly check up on that and post back here if anyone is interested.

One final thing: I've been spending a lot of time looking into the productions Saotome will be in this year, and was wondering if anyone would appreciate links and / or rough translations and summaries.

Okay, that's it! :D

Anmitsu hime is a drama based on a manga with the same title. If you want to find out what is it about check these links:

http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Anmitsu_Hime

Taichi is there 3 times, so it's worth watching. Above all, it's funny :)

You can download it from http://www.d-addicts.com , unfortunately without subs.

You can also watch some parts on youtube, but it's better to have higher quality.

Hi!

I uploaded the clip of Taichi Saotome's guest appearance to the 58th Kouhaku over here and my MU account finally got reinstated, so I was finally able to upload the performance for others to download.

Enjoy~ (And please comment if you download! ♥)

Taichi Saotome - 58th Kouhaku guest appearance

Hi, everyone! ^^

The community's been rather quiet for a while, so I figured that I could probably update with this. XD I had downloaded the 58th Kouhaku/Red & White Song Battle (it was shown on December 31, 2007), but hadn't had the chance to watch it. A friend of mine, however, had.

...and told me that Taichi makes a guest appearance. XD So... skimmed through the performances until I came to the one that he was in, cut it, and uploaded it to Youtube so that others can watch it. ^^ Enjoy! (Oh, by the way: he dances to this song--the one that was featured in the very beginning of his 15 sai DVD. :3)

Hi! I got here from [info]boys_paper~ Thanks for posting there. Otherwise I never would have known about Taichi!

I'm so impressed by how beautiful Taichi is, and obviously talented, at such a young age. Well, I can't resist kabuki, honestly, and I got back into onnagata because of Takizawa Hideaki (of JE's Tackey & Tsubasa)...

AT ANY RATE, I made a feed for his blog! I don't know if anyone would be interested, but I figured posting it here couldn't do any harm.

You can click here to add it! I hope it works... Most of the feeds I've made have worked, so I have a good feeling about this one. It works. I just got spammed by its first update: [info]saotometaichi.

Summary: .... so. :D I would like to introduce you all to Taichi Saotome, who was first introduced to me in such a way:

Kelsey: .... :D?
me: ... she's pretty. :o
Kelsey: It's a guy. >D
me: .................. DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LADY!!!

And thus, my :o-ness with Taichi began. (Mainly because I had been immersed in the Japanese culture for so long, I didn't hit-and-miss of male vs. female anymore. I was intrigued. XD) So upon further investigation and through chatting with Kelsey for more info, I discovered that he plays an 'onnagata,' which in traditional Japanese theatre means that he's a male who takes on the female roles. And... dude. He's really, really, really pretty. XDXD And to make things even better? He makes an adorable boy. :3 ♥

So, as I was saying before I got all link happy... XD Taichi is a performer in a Japanese theatre. There's a lot more detail in the bio link that I gave to you guys, so if you truly are interested in seeing and learning more, definitely check it out! If you still aren't completely convinced, well... I have a couple of YouTube video links for you. :D

Video 001
Video 002
(Second video is more like a fanvideo, so... he doesn't necessarily go with the music, but you can still see him in action! :Dv)
Video 003
Ripped performance from the DVD that I upped. ^^

Anyway, in regards to the download links--the first download, 15 sai, is actually his DVD. It has some performances on it, some interviews, opens with him performing some dances in his onnagata role. And then there are some backstage clips and he's just generally adorable. (Seriously, people. He's fluffy. Love him~ ♥) The second set of download clips are from his site. Anyone can snag them, and I just upped them to MU so that you guys can hopefully download them a bit quicker than the site's bitrate. They're .wmv files and the quality is a bit lower because it looks like they're from recording that was a bit shoddy, but... hey. Free clips and you get to see him in action! He dances as an onnagata, in kimono, to Metallica. Please at least try that clip out. :D?

And, finally, rules for the download links: Feel free to snag the links to share the Taichi adoration, but give credit back to me and this post. I ripped this DVD specifically for my use and for Kelsey's use. If I find out that you guys are claiming that the rip is yours, I will track you down and there will be hell to pay. >\ Most of you guys know that Japanese hard-to-get DVDs don't come cheap. So don't do it.

Other than that, enjoy the pretty. ♥
