Title: As Simple As That

He completes her.

It is as simple as that.

Her hand fits into his, like two pieces of a puzzle. Naturally.

His laugh mingles with hers in perfect harmony, like two parts of a grand symphony. Musically.

She finishes his sentences, like they were her own thoughts. Uncannily.

It is as simple as that.

He completes her.

Title: Complete

"Complete," John put the pencil down after the test. It'd been long and hard, but he'd studied well and he hoped he'd pull in a passing mark. A passing mark meant that he could venture on past high school and into the realm of college hotties, all night keggers, and higher education.

Yeah, higher education.

For right now, though. He had some work to do. There was still that last night on the town with his girlfriend. It was prom night and he was going to finally going to get a chance to fulfill the covenant, perform the high school sacrament, he was going to lose his virginity - whether she liked it or not.

He'd gotten all dressed up in a black tux and shiny black shoes, and picked her up at 8. She, smiling and resplendant in her white satin overlay gown, (if not just a little too fat around the edges) with her blonde hair tucked and teased up in a bun. Oh yes. John was going to have her, whether she liked it or not.

"Hi dear. You look gorgeous . I could just eat you alive."

Cindy Lou Decker smiled, and accepted his arm as they walked out the door.

The prom had been a gas. Cindy seemed to really enjoy herself, and she talked and mingled with everyone she could. John stayed by himself in his black suit and matching shoes, and drank his whisky from a flask. He had his eyes on one thing tonight. He was going to get what was owed to him.

"You gonna do it tonight?" Matty, his best friend from junior high asked.
John nodded without saying anything. Matty gave a thumbs up. It was the boys club, and the boys were happy that their ranks were growing.

After the prom, Cindy needed some convincing. Alcohol and a little friend named Rope did the trick. Pliable and nearly-unconscious, she would be easy for the taking. Little ministers daughter. Innocent and beautiful, if not a little fat around the edges. John wondered what it'd be like to take her. He'd waited so long. Now it was time, and there she was, lying prone and mostly unconscious. All beautiful white satin. John slid her stockings down and explored her silky smooth inner theigh with his hands, parting her legs to reveal her silver cotton panties with lace trim. John could feel himself getting hard. Ready. He couldn't take it anymore, he must do it now. Down over her theighs, over her knees and past her ankles, slid the panties. Punching at his belt buckle, he dropped his own pants to his legs.

"This is what you get for denying me all these years, whore."

He remembered the embarrassment after each date. She wouldn't submit. She'd never lay down. Yeah, well she was laying down now wasn't she? Oh yes.

Sliding himself inside her, he knew it was too late. There was a faint electronic hum, and then Cindy opened her eyes. But something was different. Instead of the reproachful, sad but understanding sheepish blue John expected to see, instead he found a luminous, callous fluorescent red. Cindy's face cracked into a cruel, acid tipped smile.

"Hello lover," she whispered, as her insides began to churn around and around, consuming his cock in a malicious haze of blood and maimed flesh.

This is only HP because of one mentioendn ame. and it's only remus/tonks because I pictured them while writing this.
He felt her arms around him as they moved slowly together. The night had been long and stressfull and they'd both managed to find the same room in order to be alone and read a book. Instead they wer in the chair together now, holding each other after just having said one sentence too much to each other.

"I'm sorry," she whispered repeatedly, until it was stopped by his kiss. The soft hands he felt on his face were no surprise at all. He liked her hair, the thin dress that he wished didn't come off so easily. But it fell to the floor and yes, there was the bath suit. She'd been to the beach with 'the kids' as Moody called the three friends lately, and he had been there when they came home, with tea and thin slices of cake.

Not much left of that memory now. His mind was busy replacing it by a new-one, one that held much more comfort and happiness for him. He hoped it gave her the same feeling of hope, of bliss and the same unnatural sense of wonder. She should drive him mad with love, but instead the feelings calmed him down, made her almost look pieceful in his arms. At least long enough until their minds merged and her name rang in his mind.
It didn't matter how foolish it was for her parents to cal her this. She was a goddess now and he was free, for once at last.

It made him complete, it filled the last bit of the puzzle he'd found weeks ago when he first discovered what he felt for her. But it was the only way to go from where he'd left off after the last meeting. And this beautiful act of offering ones soul and body to the other, knowing they'd offer the same things back to you...her eyesmet his, were on him all the time as their bodies and minds screamed for each other.

He felt the need, felt it still in the background when everything was over. He felt her lips still on his as they rested and he didn't want to move away from her. This was all he'd wished for. Some peace of mind. It was the last thing he'd expected after this long and wonderful hour together with her, but he was calm and content at once. He was at home here, safe, together with the woman he loved. And even if he hadn't said as much to her, he knew for himself that with these thoughts, he'd welcomed her into his life at last.

Sergeant Frederick Colon stopped at the words and pulled him into an alley out of the way of curious ears, and asked his fellow watchman to repeat himself. He shook his head.

“Are you a complete fool, Nobby?”

Corporal C.W. St. John Nobbs sucked on his dog-ended cigarette and considered it.

“I don’t think so, Sarge. I haven’t had the training.”

“So what else could make you think you could have a baby? You can’t possibly have a baby?”

“Why not sarge? I’ve got a leaflet on How to be a good parent.”

“Because you haven’t got a girlfriend, Nobby.”

"What are you thinking of?" Ryuichi wishes that Keita would say that right now.
Ryuichi has answered many times before to an unresponsive ceiling: "I love this. There has always been this hollow within my chest but when you place your head upon that niche upon my shoulder and your hand upon my stomach I am filled within by your presence without."

Keita digs his head further into Ryuichi’s chest, settling in with a sigh. He scratches Ryuichi’s stomach and bats away the butterflies caged within. Keita’s finger starts tapping the cadence of Ryuichi’s heart which, unbeknownst to him is the cadence of his own.

"What are you thinking of, Chi?" Keita says again.

"Nothing in particular," Ryuichi stumbles over his lie, as such did not hear the disappointment in Keita’s breathing. But their hearts skips a beat, still in perfect unison.

Challenge Word #81

"Hurry up, Ryo," Dee hissed frantically, "You're almost out of time!"

Ryo shook sweaty bangs from his face, his lips pressed into thin lines of concentration. "I know." He growled.

"I'm serious." Dee insisted. "You're nowhere near done."

"I know that, Dee."

"You're never going to make it in time."

"Dee, shut up!"

Ryo reached for one of the plastic shapes scattered next to the ticking device, but in his haste managed to send it skittering across the table. He snatched for it, managing to catch it just as it teetered off the edge. With a sigh of relief he picked it up, adjusted it for entry, and slid it into the appropriate space.

Only three left.

Tick, tick, tick.

The timer's heart beat was very loud in the silence of the room. Ryo ground his teeth in frustration and risked a glance up towards his partner. Dee was leaned close over his shoulder, his green eyes large, one hand clamped over his mouth in an effort to hold his tongue.

Their eyes met for one tick of the clock. Dee's expression plainly told Ryo that there was no way he was going to be able to finish before the timer went off.

Unfortunately, Ryo agreed.

He hadn't had to do anything remotely like this for more years than he cared to think about. And it was a lot harder than he remembered. He was out of practice and that made him slow. And now he was going to pay the price.

Two pieces left.

With his heart racing, Ryo glanced at the timer and immediately wished he hadn't done so. Panic surged through him, making his once sure hands tremble and shake like those of an arithmetic old man. The bright yellow plastic piece jittered against the side as he slid it hastily into place.

Almost there.

But just as he reached for the last piece, the small timer buzzed.

And everything literally flew apart.

"Ha ha, you lose, Ryo!" Bicky cried exstatically holding out his hand expectantly "Not as easy as you thought it would be, is it?"

"No, it's not." Ryo sighed as he fished into his pocket, and pulled out his last twenty dollar bill. He gazed at it longingly for a moment, then with a look very much like pain, handed the money over to his son.

Bicky grinned and stuffed it into the front pocket of his jeans.

"Alright! I am the Perfection champion!" He turned his eyes to Dee. "You wanna try?"

Dee smiled and took a seat, positioning himself comfortably.

"Sure, why not. But this time, I'm going to win."

Bicky laughed as he set the timer.

"Sure, sure, sure. If you say so."

Title: Engine
Genre: Speculative
Words: 264
Notes: First time, more short fiction over at [info]h_dd_n_tr_cks

The world is as complete as it's ever going to get. Everything slots into the peg for which it is made. All the cogs mesh. You can do anything you like to it, and the whole thing will grind away. One species may vanish, another flourish, but the world remains itself, complete.

One wheel in many.

The orrery of creation spins on regardless of ant or man. Anything we do is ground away to dirt, all our loves, desires and fears lost to ash and sand. Immortal particles that will drift through the ether long after our planet has been recycled into the rest of the great machine. We, and everything around us, are temporary arrangements, bargains, promises: complete and perfect representations of the possible. We are sounded out as if by an organ whose sole purpose is to express every note that can be played. And maybe that's the truth of it. Creation will reach it's bound at the instant that the last possible combination has been dealt with. Maybe the universe is the greatest computational engine ever conceived, a glorified lock-pick. The question then becomes...

What is the lock? And what's on the other side?

We are moderate gears in an engine so vast that we cannot see it's edge nor purpose clearly. We spin because we are made too, we act because it is required of us. We maximise entropy faster than any other force in nature as if that is the role that has been assigned to us, destroyers and catalysts, regulators of precision.

We are, in every sense, complete.

Title: He Doesn't Think
Fandom: Due South
Rating PG - Slash Ray K/Fraser

He complains a lot. He knows he does. It's always been a Stanley Raymond Kowalski thing to do. He can't count how many times his father told him to stop whining, although he perfectly recalls every instance Stella echoed his father's sentiments. It was always easier to complain than to do something about it, so he complains. Loudly and with great vehemence.

"Dunno why we've gotta be the ones out here in the rain," he grumbles from underneath his slicker. Fraser is beside him, perfectly still, completely soaked, water dripping off the wide brim of his hat. Dief whines every time Ray speaks. Ray doesn't think of how cold Fraser must be, he doesn't think of the goosebumps that are probably all over his skin, doesn't think of throwing a blanket over the Mountie's shoulders and sitting him in front of a warm fire.

"There's an entire department of complete morons that coulda been sent out here instead of us, but you've gotta go and tell the sargeant that you wanna be out here. You like the rain. Well, I don't like the damn rain, Fraser, okay? It's cold and ... cold. And ..."

"Wet?" Fraser suggests, barely shifting. He looks over at Ray in one smooth, fluid motion. Ray's never liked when he does that, movements that are almost catlike and perfect. It makes him feel all weird, like his breakfast wants to come back up. He doesn't like thinking about what that might mean.

"Yeah. Wet. That's what I meant."

Fraser nods.

"Just 'cause you're right doesn't mean you win."

"Win? I wasn't aware that there was a competition in progress here, Ray. Did I miss a key component of the file?"

Ray sighs. "Nah, Fraser, I'm just messing with you. It's fine. Yay rain."

Dief whines again and Ray gives the sodden wolf a sympathetic look.

"Diefenbaker appears to be rather cold," Fraser says. "Perhaps you and I should call it a day and I can find him a warm blanket."

"Yeah. Call it a day when the wolf gets cold. Real great of you, Fraser. Real great." Ray stands, water cascading off the slicker and down his back. He winces when some of it trickles into the collar of his shirt and down his skin. Doesn't think of the water dripping down Fraser's skin, doesn't think about water and Fraser in the same context and definitely doesn't think about Fraser's skin.

"You seem upset."

"I'm cold," Ray snaps. "Cold and wet, okay? So, I'd just like to go home and get warm and forget about this whole day." He turns and stomps away, fully aware that he's throwing an adult sized tempertantrum and feeling like a complete idiot.

"May I have a ride back to the station?" Fraser calls.

Ray stops and sighs. "Yeah, of course."

They both climb into the car and Ray turns the heat on, the windows steaming up, and he sits back to wait. With his eyes closed he can feel Fraser studying him and a moment later, Dief starts licking the water off his face.

"Really, Dief, I'm good," he says tiredly, pushing the wolf away.

"I think you need a good night of sleep," Fraser says firmly.

"I need a good night of beer and football," Ray replies. "Sorry I was a complete ass."

"You were perhaps a little abrupt, but nowhere near being a complete ... ass, Ray."

He smiles. He doesn't think of Fraser sitting in the seat beside him, water still dripping off the hat he hasn't yet removed. He smiles, but he doesn't think of taking Fraser (and yes, he supposes, Dief as well) back to his apartment and making coffee. He definitely doesn't think of Fraser having a shower to warm up and most certainly doesn't think of them in the shower together.

"I'll take you back to the station," he says, opening his eyes to find that the windows have cleared. "Unless you wanna come with me and I can make some coffee."

Fraser nods. "Yes, Ray. I think I would enjoy some of your coffee."

Ray grins. He doesn't think he'll get to making the coffee.

Title:A Feeling of Completion
Author: Roxy Parkington
Fandom: Pokemon
Summary: Lanette helps an old friend move into his old home, which leads to rexlation, remembering their childhood...and maybe just a little bit of love.

"I never thought I'd see the day when I'd hate to see a brown cardboard box again," Lanette remarked laughingly as she placed the last folder stocked with information into the iron gray filing cabinet. After three long hours of labor, there was a feeling of completion in her soul: Celio had finally settled into his new island home.

"Yeah, but it was worth it, wasn't it?" Celio answered, punctuating his sentence with a sigh of pure contentment while sitting on the couch opposite her. His eyes, radiating the intelligence he possesed from behind his glasses, gazed out at the crashing surf through the open window. "The surf, studying Pokemon, solitude...what more could a guy want? Bill would kill to have a view as breathtaking as this."

"Yeah, I guess you're right, he never got to spend his entire life around water like we did in Sootopolis," Lanette answered. "Do you remember those days, when we would spend our summers paddling around the city and our winters skating on the lake?"

"Oh yes, you were such a tomboy back then when you tried to read all those Pokemon breeding books just to try and impress me with your knowledge; I found you asleep under a tree one time with the book in your lap. Did it really bore you that badly?"

"Well, breeding didn't suit me, so I started a career in computer electronics. As I got older, I began to hear talk of a child prodigy named Bill Maxwell who built computers for people all over the Johto region. When he was in his teens, he devised the Pokemon Storage System, or PSS for short, and I wanted to create one for Hoenn's use. That was a few years ago, and I get a lot of money from it. The least it can do is put bread on the table."

My, my, has she grown up, worrying about money like that, Celio thought with the smallest of chuckles. He nodded, his eyes reverting back to the sea again. "Thank you, Lanette," he said simply.

"For...what?" Lanette asked, curiousity alighting in her brown eyes.

"That's an easy answer to a simple equation-" Celio began, but Lanette cut him off in teasing protest.

"Must you always speak in mathematical terms? Honestly, Celio, let's just be two ordinary people and not scientists!"

"Just hear me out, okay? As I said, it's an easy answer to a simple equation. The fact that you're here right now, the fact that you bothered to sail here to the edges of the Kanto reigon just to help me get settled in. The fact that you've always been there for me. The fact that..."

"Yes?" Lanette asked, suddenly shivering due to the awkward silence.

"The fact that you'd kiss an intelligent Pokemon scientist if he requested it of you."

"And the answer to that equation...is merely a variable," Lanette replied with a demure blush as Celio strided across the room to the couch and leaned in closer to her.

It didn't.

He thought at first that it was Marissa. But he learned a long time ago that a pretty face doesn't solve anything - it just distracts you. But the bright sun, and the bright colors, and the flashy cars and the flashy people - those distracted him, too, and suddenly he was caught. Marissa needed him. Seth turns to him with a concerned frown. "Dude, are you okay?" he asks. Ryan swallows hard and nods.

"Fine," he assures him. Seth grins from ear-to-ear and turns back to the game.

It is all his doing. She will never forgive him.

She will never forgive him for how he has made her totally dependent on him. Every day passes where she doesn't long to see him, to touch him...
