And, taking SECOND place: \O/
Fer Christmas, my friend Harry Potter gave me this 'ere Muggle book by the name o' Where the Wild Things Are. I can't tell you who wrote it... Morris somethin' And I can't spell it, either. Don't have it in front of me, or I'd jus' copy it off the front. Anyway, Harry says he read the book when he was just a tyke, and since he knows I like wild things, he said I would like this here book. 's about a young wizard name o' Max. I don't reckon he knows he’s a wizard, 'course, but he can do magic. Max likes wild animals, even dresses up like one.
Max gets himself into a spot o' trouble with his mum and gets sent to his room. I think that his house must be on t'other side of the forest from here, 'cos he's in his room one minute, and in the woods the next. Little bit o' magic and he's slippin’ through the wall. 'Course, he should pro'ly know better'n to go out into the dark woods alone. I tell them firs' years every time, but one or two of 'em always find their way.
If he is a Muggle, 'course, then the Ministry best get over and check the charms 'round his house so the beasts don’t get out and more Muggles can't get in. That's jus' askin' fer trouble, y'ask me. So, Max, here, finds 'imself a boat and travels 'cross the water. When he gets to the other side of the water, there's a bunch o' beasts there to see who it is visitin' their home and they try to scare him away.
I think Max is like Harry Potter, 'coz he stands up to 'em and then does magic to show them he's not afraid o' the likes of 'em. Them creatures then make Max their king because he can do magic and they play in the forest and have a party and I really liked this part 'coz the creatures in the forest aren't all that bad. 's jus' that the wrong wizards are goin' in without respectin' them that already live there. Some wizards think they're better then them that don't rightly speak and that’s when folks get hurt.
My favorite of all them wild things in this book is the one that looks like Beaky. There's 'nother one who kinda looks like my brother, too. When the wild things are playin' in the woods, makes me think of Grawpy havin' fun with 'is friends.
Max knows he's gotta go back home in the end, so he gets in 'is boat and leaves the creatures, which makes 'em all sad. So he goes back 'cross the water and through the trees and then's back in his room in time for dinner.
Maybe the Committee fer the Disposal o' Dangerous Creatures wouldn't jump so quick to judge if'n they read this here book. Seems that even Muggles know that not all manner o' magical beasts are dangerous. As the teacher for Care o' Magical Creatures at Hogwarts, I jus' might have to add this to the 'quired readin' fer next term. Will have to check with Dumbledore, 'course, since it’s a Muggle book.

CONTEST PROMPT:
It's back to school time! In the spirit of the second grade, we are all going to write summer reading book reports!
Except that that on its own wouldn't be very fun.
So, what you're going to do is pick out a book-- any book except a Harry Potter book-- and write an essay about that book as a Harry Potter character. So you can write Tom Riddle's take on Watership Down or Fred Weasley's sterling reflections on Mein Kampf.
Fer Christmas, my friend Harry Potter gave me this 'ere Muggle book by the name o' Where the Wild Things Are. I can't tell you who wrote it... Morris somethin' And I can't spell it, either. And taking FIRST place:
CONTEST PROMPT:
For this contest, your goal is to create a fanmix! A fanmix is a mix of songs themed or centered around a subject--and for this contest, that subject must be one character from the Harry Potter books. To make this a bit more difficult, this fanmix contest is acrostical. That is, the first letter of each song must be a letter of a word related to the character, and that word must be the title of the fanmix. FRECKLES for a Ron mix, SCARHEAD for a Harry mix, etc.
The entry would look something like this, though you should not be using a character's name:
Ready for the Victory - Modern Talking
Obsessed With You - The Orion Experience
Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
...you get the idea. Obviously, while those songs were random, yours should be themed. Please use words that are more than 7 characters long, and include a minimum of seven tracks in your mix.
