STEP ONE

Please read the complete FAQ, RULES & GUIDELINES before making your claim. You can pick a character/pairing/group/general series from any fandom based on a book, manga, anime, comic, tv series, movie, real person (musicians, actors, athletes, etc). Anything goes! Even those that aren't human if that's what you're into. You can also create your own original character or original fics. Check the List Of Claims to make sure that whoever or whatever you want isn't already taken before making your claim(s).

Make that claim and wait for approval. Your table will be linked to the LIST OF CLAIMS and you will be given a tag to use when posting your fics. Make your claim here.

Start posting your fics to the community! You don't have to post them all at once. Go at your own pace. And yes, you need to post to the community. This is a challenge and we need to see what you've written. Please use an lj-cut even if it's just a drabble or a poem.

[3] Be respectful of other writers and readers. Constructive criticisms and comments are great but do not start a flame war in this community or you will be banned. You can report an abuse here. Comments will be screened.

[4] Don't forget to include spoilers (if any) and regular warnings in your Author's Notes when posting.

[5] Please remember to tag your fics! Your tag should look like this:

FAQ's

Is there a dateline?

There isn't a dateline for you to complete your table but if you stop posting for three whole months altogether, I'll have to revoke your claim to allow others to take over. But if you need more time, please do not hesitate to let us know here. It'll be great if you could write at least one fic a month to keep the community active.

Do I have to pick a specific focus?

You can work on anything you want. Go crazy!

Could you elaborate more on that?

If you pick a character, your story must focus on that character. If you pick a pairing, both characters must be featured in your story, even if it's just a passing mention. If you pick general series, you can choose to write about anyone within that series.

For Group -- please furnish us with some details about the group itself. And also, please have a name for the group. For example, Band of Brothers: Easy Company.

For Anime/Manga -- this is considered as one fandom unless of course there's a manga that hasn't been made into an anime and vice versa. For example, if you're claiming Sasuke from Naruto we consider that as anime/manga - one fandom.

For Games -- if you're claming a character, say, from Devil May Cry, you don't need to state that you're claiming Devil May Cry 1 or 2 or 3 because the main character stays the same throughout all the series.

For RP -- you're allowed to claim them as a band/sports team/etc.

For Books -- you can claim any character/pairing or even the whole book (which is considered a general claim).

What about threesomes?

Yes, you're allowed to claim threesomes. Just remember that when you claim a threesome, all three characters have to be part of each fic that you write but only one has to be central to the fic. The other two can be mentioned in passing.

What about a foursome?

Oi, oi, don't push it. Try for a group or general claim instead.

Can I claim a character/pairing/group or general series that's already been claimed?

No. But here's the good news. Currently, there's 5 different table prompts. This allows a character/pairing/group/general series to be claimed by three different persons. For example:

User 1 claims Character A using Table Prompt 1
User 2 claims Character A using Table Prompt 2
User 3 claims Character A using Table Prompt 3

What about crossovers/au? Are those allowed?

Yes! But only if you've claimed a crossover as part of your challenge. For non crossover claims, you're still allowed to write 20 crossovers for each table prompt. Feel free to crossover your claimed character/pairing/general series with characters in another fandom, but remember, you're only allowed to write 20 crossover fics. With regards to AU, go ahead and write for it.

More About Crossover Claims

With regards to character/pairing/group/general series crossover claims, you're allowed to crossover two fandoms max! Read on.

For example: You can claim a crossover pairing, a character from Fandom A (Resident Evil) and a character from Fandom B (Devil May Cry). Within that crossover claim, you're still allowed to write 20 fics whereby you can crossover those two characters with say, Fandom C (Silent Hill) or whatever you choose. But only 20 fics! As for the rest of the 80 fics, you have to write only about the original claimed pairings in their original fandom.

And one more thing, when you make a crossover claim, you're allowed to write about other characters within Fandom A and Fandom B. Just make sure that if you've picked a crossover pairing, one of the characters has to be central to the fic and the other one has to at least be mentioned in each of your fics. But they can interact with anyone else within Fandom A and B.

Extra Bit of Information: If you'd like to crossover characters from more than two fandoms, write in to us with your claim and tell us more about it. If we like what you have in mind, we'll give it a go. But you have to be specific about it, aight? For example: Jossverse/LOST.

Is it okay to crossover characters from a book and a movie? Or a game and a movie?

Yes. Why? Because we love to see what you can come up with. So you're allowed to crossover characters from say, a book like Neil Gaiman's American God with any character(s) from a movie of your choice. Please state clearly what you're claiming.

Can I claim an original character that I've made up?

Yes, you're allowed to write a fic about an original character. Furnish us with the following details:

The name of your character and the fandom. Are you building a whole new world for your character or will you be claiming it as a character/pairing and letting it be part of an existing fandom? Be sure to state that it's an original character when you're making the claim.

With regards to crossovers for original character claims, the same rules apply (see above).

What if I don't have an original character but I'd still like to take part in this challenge and write my own original stuff?

That would go into the category of General Fiction. Your work would have to be 100% original and you can't write your characters into an existing fandom. Obviously there isn't a limit as to how many people can make a claim for General Fiction in this category.

What about ratings? What am I allowed to post?

Anything from G to NC-17. You're allowed to post het, slash, gen, anything! But if you're writing about incest, bondage, etc -- please put a warning in your Author's Notes.

G All ages admitted
PG Some material may not be suitable for children
PG-13 Some material may be inappropriate for children under the age of 13
R Under 17 requires accompanying parent or legal guardian.
NC-17 No one 17 and under admitted.

Where do I post my fics?

You post them to the community.

What's the minimum/maximum word count?

Drabbles and fics --> 200 words and above.

Do I post one at a time or all at once?

Feel free to post each time you've completed a fic/drabble/poem/script.

What about fake cuts?

Links are a-okay.

How many claims am I allowed to make?

You're allowed to make a maximum of two claims at once. Once you've completed one, you can make another claim.

Can I post the stuff written for this challenge elsewhere?

Sure thing. It's your work of fiction. We don't own any rights to it.

Can I include fics that I've already written in the past as part of the challenge?

As long as it fits the prompts in the table, sure. But we'd really love it if you could write something new.

Am I supposed to write 100 fics/drabbles/etc?

Yes. One word prompt = one drabble/fic/etc. Word count has to be 200 and above. You're allowed to write in chapters -- it doesn't have to be a one shot. Just make sure that each chapter fits into one word prompt.

Do we have to post in the order of the prompts (from 001 to 100)?

No, you can work on whichever prompt that tickles your fancy.

Can I mix and match the different prompts from the different tables?

No. You pick one table prompt and you stick to it.

Can I do a joint claim with someone else?

Sure, but here's the catch. You'll have to work together to write each and every single prompt on the table. Do let me know that you're doing a joint claim when you're making the claim(s).

How do I link my fics to the table and why do I need to do that?

You need to start linking your fics back to the table every time you've written one so that you'll be able to keep track of which word prompts you've completed and you'll be able to allow other readers to check out the fics you've written. So don't friends lock the post to your table. The mods will need to check on it from time to time just as well.

And here's how you'll be able to link your fics back to your table.

Whenever you post a fic to your journal or the community, there's a URL address for the page. You copy and paste the URL that displays your fic.

To make the HTML link work, you need replace the "Prompt" word in your table with the following (but do not delete the HTML for the table -- all the <td> etc). Simply replace the word prompt with the following:

You paste the URL (the link to your fic) into the HTML code. Change the WordPrompt to whatever word prompt you've written the fic for, say "Deception". It'll look like that.

Now, simply copy and paste the HTMl code from before, replacing the word prompt "Deception" on your table.
