Community Rules

[x] Read the rules! Failure to read them does not exempt you from the obligation to follow them. Community maintainers have the right to delete any post or ban any member without warning for breaking the rules or being blatantly offensive. Problems with administrative decisions may be reported to any maintainer.
[x] If you have questions, you must read the Sacred Heart FAQ before posting your question in the community. This cannot be emphasized enough.
[x] When joining, please feel free to make an introductory post. To do so, copy the text in the box below, paste it into your entry and fill it out.

When filling out this survey, if you choose to, please do not attempt to diagnose yourself if you are unfamiliar with eating disorders. As a general guide, please see the following links to give you quick information on Bulimia, Anorexia, and EDNOS. Please refrain from using terms such as "ana" or "mia," as they are considered by some of our members to be demeaning slang.
[x] Place all long entries and pictures behind a LJ cut.
[x] Do not disable comments on your posts. This is a community and communities require communication.
[x] No Adult Material. Our community is all ages. Any inappropriate material will be deleted.
[x] No spamming, trolling, harassment or disruptive behavior. Be respectful of all our fellow members.
[x] Do not promote unrelated communities or use large banners, repetitive text, etc to promote. If you are unsure about your post, contact a maintainer.
[x] While variations to the diet are welcome, do not post expecting us to tailor up a diet especially for your needs. Don't ask for permission to modify - you can do whatever you want. We're here for support, not to give professional dietary advice. We didn't even invent this diet.
[x] Do not come here to preach for or against eating disorders.
Our community is ED tolerant. That means we welcome members who suffer from eating disorders equally with people who do not. All members are expected to be respectful and kind in regards to other members' personal situations. Any unkindness relating to eating disorders (for or against) will be grounds for community priviledge removal.
However, we encourage healthy choices and if we see someone who thinks they may have an eating disorder, we may strongly recommend that person some advice to steer them away from ED. I consider this a positive support mechanism. Negative influences are things like tips on how to become underweight. This is not acceptable and repeat offenders will be removed.

Sacred Heart Diet

"FAT-BURNING" SOUP
1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
3 large green onions
1 large can of fat-free beef or chicken broth
1 pkg. fat-free soup Mix
1 bunch celery
2 cans green beans [or fresh]
2 or 3 green bell peppers
2 lbs. carrots

OPTIONAL ADDITIONS: Fresh mushrooms, zucchini squash, yellow onions, chopped garlic, chili flakes, cabbage, fresh green beans and tomatoes.

Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Add water to cover. Season with salt, pepper, parsley if desired, bullion, soup mix. Add necessary + optional vegetables and seasonings as desired. Bring to rapid boil - cook for 10 minutes, then reduce heat and simmer until veggies are tender.

Eat this soup anytime you are hungry. Eat as much of this soup as you want, whenever you want. The more you eat, the more you will lose.

Drink lots of water, [6-8 glasses a day], unsweetened juices, tea, coffee, cranberry juice.

7-DAY EATING PLAN

Day ONE

Eat only soup and fruit. Any fruit except bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Dried fruits are higher in calories than fresh fruit, but are acceptable in smaller quantities as well.

Day TWO
Eat only soup and vegetables today. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh, raw or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy lettuces. Stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. At dinner time tonight, reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter! Do not eat fruits.

Day THREE
Eat all the soup, fruit and vegetables you want. Broccoli, cauliflower, frozen veggies, salad, radishes, cucumber, etc. Do not have a baked potato.

Day FOUR
Bananas and skim milk. East at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk. Have the soup. On this particular day, your body will need the potassium and carbs plus proteins and calcium to lesson the craving for sweets.

Day FIVE
Beef and tomatoes. You may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 6 fresh tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once. You can eat broiled or baked chicken, without the skin, instead of beef. Options for vegetarians are discussed in the Sacred Heart FAQ.

Day SIX
Eat beef and vegetables to your heart's content. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like, with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.

Day SEVEN
Brown rice, veggies, unsweetened fruit juice. Be sure to stuff yourself and eat the soup.

NO BREAD, ALCOHOL, CARBONATED DRINKS, INCLUDING DIET DRINKS AND NO FRIED FOODS! DRINK PLENTY OF WATER - at least 6 to 8 glasses a day.

The "fat burning" soup can be eaten any time you feel hungry -- eat as much of it as you wish. Remember, the more you eat the more you will lose! If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef for the other days.

This diet is fast! By the end of the 7th day, if used correctly, you should have lost from 2 to 12 lbs. If your goal is to lose more than this, give your body a week or so to rest before beginning the diet again.

Because everyone's digestive system is different, this diet will affect everyone differently. If followed correctly, after day three, you should have more energy than when you began. After being on the diet for several days, you may find that your bowel movements have changed. A cup of bran or fiber is good for counteracting any unpleasant effects. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don't need the caffeine after the third day.

Some questions from the FAQ:

Q: Does this diet work?
A: Yes! I have tried it myself.

Q: Why does this diet work?
A: The short of it is that the diet contains so much water and so few calories that the body actually burns calories to digest what it consumes, forcing the body to draw upon stored fats and flush out toxins. The rest of this answer may be found in the actual FAQ.

Q: Is this diet safe?
A: This diet is very safe when used in moderation. If used multiple times without a break, it may be too harsh for your system. For safety's sake, do the diet for a week, take at least a week off, and then begin again as needed.

Q: How much weight will I lose?
A: This is dependent upon how overweight you are. If you are underweight, or anorexic (and your body's metabolism has slowed) you may gain weight (if you eat nothing and then suddenly eat again, you will always gain weight). But most people with normal diets will lose weight very easily and effectively. On average, what I have seen and experienced varies between 2 and 10 lbs.
